But then filmmaker Nirvan Mullick stopped by the east Los Angeles shop. He was looking for a door handle for his car, but was captivated by the world Caine had created -- and quickly became the first customer of Caine's arcade. Impressed with the elaborate setup, Mullick got permission from Caine's father to make a short documentary about the arcade.

Thanks for the link!

I saw his website. He is an innovative young man and I just talked with his father George.

I will send him some of my ‘Sneaky Uses for Everyday Things’ books for his son.

Wiping away tears of pure enjoyment! My two younger sons were little inventors like Caine. Life was NEVER dull, there was never a cardboard box in its original condition, and we were ALWAYS out of tape for some reason. Happy times.

Wow, what a great story! Childhood is a magical time and this youngster will never forget this. Kudos to his Dad for encouraging his creativity and kudos to the film maker for capturing just the right spirit.

I’m curious what his father thought about the more than $10,000 raised today for his son’s college fund. Don’t suppose the donation link came up in your conversation?

When I talked with his father (George) he said a crew from Good Morning America was taping a segment with them at that very moment.

(I let them know what to expect as far as extra publicity and possible offers, etc.)

Hope the lad stays grounded.
