In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

macaronic \mak-uh-RON-ik\ , adjective
1. Composed of a mixture of languages.
2. Composed of or characterized by Latin words mixed with vernacular words or non-Latin words given Latin endings.
3. Mixed; jumbled.
noun
1. Macaronics, macaronic language.
2. A macaronic verse or other piece of writing.

Example sentences:
The tradition is even more significant in Folengo's Italian works and especially in his macaronic writings.
-- Mikhail Bakhtin, Rabelais and His World

The macaronic mode swivels between different languages. I believe Beckett chose French against English for similar reasons to those of Jean Arp in selecting French against German.
-- W. D. Redfern, French Laughter: Literary Humour from Diderot to Tournier

The journalistic multiplicity of voices found in the Magazine corresponded with the poetic multi-vocality of Fergusson's macaronic compositions, texts that combined elements of neo-classical English and vernacular Scots diction.
-- Ian Brown, The Edinburgh History of Scottish Literature

Etymology:
Macaronic is related to the word macaroni. Specifically, the pasta is named after the Southern Italian dialect maccarone, which was also associated with a mixture of Latin and vernacular languages.

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

For what it’s worth, in the last 4 series the Pens have played, the game 1 winner has lost the series.

Macaronic

Let's see:

On top of Spumoni, down went the cheese, with macaroni, sangria and raw oysters you see.

I danced the macarena while the radio blared, up crawled the oysters but I wasn't scared,

until the sangria was a geyser in me and covered my partner from her toe to her knee.

Mr. Marconi is now my close friend cause there's nothing like fresh macaronic to make your dates end.

xshub came home saying last night that he’d heard an in-depth interview with Disco Dan and was very impressed with how thoughtful and articulate he was, almost lawyerly, in his responses. And here i thought he was just a big bundle of CUTE ; )

Some say, compar’d to Bononcini,
That Mynheer Handel ’s but a ninny;
Others aver that he to Handel
Is scarcely fit to hold a candle.
Strange all this difference should be
’Twixt Tweedledum and Tweedledee.

- John Byrom on the musical wars between Handel and Bononcini. Handel won.

If the language is macaronic, is that a foreign tongue based upon pig-latin?

Thanks! But after reading the other contributions I feel humbled--and a bit pedantic.

This is fun. And it's a good word.

(Here’s a macaronic ditty from this “late riser” ;-):

El Doodle del yanqui fue a la ciudad,
Fahren auf ein Pony;
Ha attaccato una piuma in suo cappello,
And called it macaroni...

Spanish company to "count" American votes overseas in November (i.e. military votes)

It has also been claimed that SKYTL CEO Pere Valles is a socialist who donated heavily to the 2008 Obama campaign and lived in Chicago during Obama’s time as Illinois State Senator...

I also heard a radio report this morning that our beloved GEORGE SOROS is on the board of directors of this company.

In a time packed full of "last straws", isn't this just one more? Stealing elections is a liberal area of expertise. It appears that they're not even trying to disguise it anymore.

...and to the Banana Republic for which it stands...

Sorry, no macaronics here. :-|
