A Night to Remember, - 8pm est
Freeper re_nortex writes:
"If youre interested in a factual treatment of the RMS Titanic disaster of 100 year ago, A Night to Remember is the one film to see. While packed with drama and fascinating character development, this 1958 film is reality based without a fictional romance as a plot device. The crisp acting and authentic dialog is shot in black and white, adding to the documentary feel of this historically accurate film.
Given that TCM is showing this at 10:00 PM (EDT) on April 14, its all the more fascinating for that was the night precisely a century ago that Titanic struck the iceberg in the North Atlantic. Over 1,500 perished in this disaster.
On a personal note, I was 16 when I first saw A Night to Remember when it was first shown in a local movie theater. It was what led to my interest in Titanic."

A Night to Remember can also be watched on YouTube in glorious low-definition.

Interesting that David McCallum has a role in this film.
He later narrated the classic A&E documentary (1994) on the Titanic, still considered one of the best ever on the subject.

Interesting that David McCallum has a role in this film. Likewise a young Sean Connery appears briefly as a crewman in an uncredited role. By the way, there's a lively discussion ensuing in this FR thread about A Night to Remember and a variety of other topics concerning RMS Titanic, as the 100th Anniversary of this notable event is upon us.

I am so over all that Titanic stuff. It’s been on tv for weeks now. Yes it is a sad anniversary and a notable historical event but why the tv overkill.
