The iPad Answer

Posted on 04/14/2012 2:28:38 PM PDT by A'elian' nation

I was struck by a comment by one of our Freepers - ClearCase_guy, notably because I've said much the same thing here and there. ClearCase_guy said,

"Sometimes I wish the Republicans would put both the economic and social issues on the back burner. We probably need to spend 4 years just HAMMERING the propaganda industry, the media, and the educational establishment. Just expose them all as manipulative liars with no principles of any kind.

We aren't going to fix the economic or social problems until the sheeple smarten up and realize how deeply immoral our society has become. "

ClearCase guy couldn't have said it better. It is constant Right-Left bickering instead of coming down on Right vs Wrong. A society without morals and truths will soon be in shackles.

The problem with the media is that they lie. The problem with democrats and progressives is that they lie all the time. Anybody can say anything and get away with it, especially their side. All you get is back and forth 'he said, she said' or 'I was taken out of context' or 'they all do it' etc. Nobody believes anybody with all the denials and distortions.

The only way to fight the media is to confront them with actual unedited news clips, events, and the lies and outrageous comments of media hacks, campaign consultants, and politicians. It is not enough to just verbally counter the David Gregorys or Chuck Todds or Stephanopouluses.

On last week's Meet the Press, Gregory challenged a Republican congressman when he accused the media of mocking the Mormon religion. The congressman brought up a quote from Lawrence O'Donnell on MSNBC which nailed O'Donnell. Gregory shrugged and went to another topic.

It's not enough to just counter the enemy with facts. To really impress the viewer, the independents, and the media itself is to counterattack with actual visual evidence. Surprise them. Hoist them on their own petard on their own studio sets.

Enter the iPad. Remember when Obama gave the Queen of England all of his famous speeches on an iPod? I am proposing that the republicans arm themselves before stepping on stage with Couric or Lauer or Letterman or Gregory with iPads chock full of news videos of media bias that can be instantly played back to them. Suddenly, the usual hapless blundering republican mouthpiece has veritable visual firepower at his disposal.

The viewer can no longer dismiss an incident as just back and forth political ranting. Nor can the media continually attack our side without repercussions. They might even become more objective if faced with return fire.

Of course, our side makes its share of gaffes but nowhere near as many or as idiotically preposterous as their side. And the iPad solution still requires republicans to have the gonads to confront a moderator with the iPad evidence. The moderator might still shrug and move on, but the actual video of the perpetrator will have made it to the screen for the viewer to decide.

The media needs to be confronted and embarrassed, if that's possible. Our side needs to be more combative and fight back with the latest technology.

Maybe Breitbart or Glenn Beck or even Rush can set up a server with these media news shots which can be downloaded on iPads. Or, like in the movie 'Coma,' the RNC can set up a library vault of suspended iPad modules all of which are fed instantaneously via the ether nodes of the Cloud. One of our guys can just check one out prior to stepping before the cameras.

With today's dumbed-down citizenry that reasons with their emotions, truth must be conveyed visually. Blast the Jon Stewarts and Bill Mahers with our iPad lasers. Imagine if one of them actually has to watch their own cowardly accusations.

Something has got to give. Truth and Morals are taking a beating. If we take the White House, the media will just amp up the lies and rhetoric even more. The fight has got to be taken right up their cameras and teleprompters. The iPad can be the truth equalizer.

Honestly, I am surprised that the iPad has not been used in this manner. Sure would beat Rove's sketch board.

Do not adjust your sets. We now return you to your normal programming propaganda.

I think it’s a great idea. The iPad screen has high enough resolution that it would come through cleanly to the TV viewer.

I am so angry about the propaganda I could spit!

Why cant people see the way the media is baiting everyone on the Trayvon thing?

They are dividing us all and we all lose when we bite.

Don’t get wrapped up the the Travon thing. Just say that he was a drug-dealer-in-training, and he was going to be killed on the streets in a few years anyway.

As for the media...don’t patronize them, and encourage anyone you talk with not to patronize them.

Remember Mark Twain’s admonition....Don’t get into an argument with people who buy ink by the barrel. Many are no longer buying it by the barrel, but by the quart.

My local Gannett paper constantly calls me wanting me to subscribe...I tell them that the editorial board advocates for things that I find abhorrent and I will not buy their product nor the products of their advertisers.

Actually, any tablet can do the job, and even some smartphones.

The devices are just the presentation mechanisms, and the hard work occurs in the background, with servers and applications and organized data, most of it in various media forms, such as TV and newspapers/magazines, internet blogs and forums, Facebook/Twitter/Google/Bing, etc.

To organize that information, will require a lot more processing power than a simple iPad or any other tablet can handle.

The organization part of what I mentioned above, is not simple, and can be done without too many problems. In fact, I’ve already worked out the methods for gathering the data, and the methods for accessing and presenting that data. I even have a working model, if anyone is interested.

One example:

You need to quote a particular politico about his record on dealing with the Israeli vs Iran issues, and you want to know it for the last 2 years or last week or yesterday...

Well, my idea will allow you to search the system to get at those specific criteria, and more, if needed.

This country is not screwed up because the newscasters are withholding the truth. It is screwed up because the majority of people have turned their backs on basic right and wrong. I don’t think they are being deceived, I think it was an conscious choice.

Great idea. When I hear or read something that sounds questionable, I jump on my ipad to verify. So many times the info that did not sound right, was from a left wing site that picked it up on some 35 year old leftist , working out of his parents basement. ( I really don't know that, but the source is about that reliable). The good news is the truth is on our side. We love the truth; the left lies so much they don't recognize truth.

Won't work. Audio for 1. How do you force the host or director or cameraman to focus on your screen, which you have to hold steady. I could go on.

Instead, our guys can reference the material or the quote, and offer to show it , but they'll be refused everytime.

Two basic tenets for our guys: 1) Always question the premise of the charge. 2) Expose the media by asking them what they think. Do not let them wiggle away by saying 'you're the candidate, it's not important what I think', when it is important what they think because they're directing the narrative. Force them to acknowledge our argument, or find out why they're ignoring important facts like: "'Zimmerman wasn't a racist and in fact tutored blacks", or Reagan didn't like millionaires evading taxes either, but his method was to reduce the top tax rate from 70 percent to 28 % to encourage payment of taxes and it worked.......etc.

“I’ve already worked out the methods for gathering the data”

Man you are really ahead of the game. I thought I was just thinking in the Twilight Zone.

I know you can’t put Nexus on the iPad, but I was thinking just have those issues of the day ready for your iPad revenge on the media. And of course a special ready file of the Hall of Shame of classic demoRat vile vituperations.

I might as well ask you since you seem to know what you are talking about. If someone has a good idea for an iPad app how would you go about it? Would sure like to know where to start for one who doesn’t know anything about app programming.

And thanks all for the nice comments even from Chillers who pretty much shot down my scenario - lol. I know you can’t force the cameraman to focus in, but, even so, I would still shove their comments back in their face. They can’t totally ignore it.

You are right. I look at many of the twenty somethings I know and they act like I did high school. Their lives revolve around American Idol or Kardashing (what ever that show is) and partying. Don't get me wrong, I know some outstanding young people. But too many kids grew up with parents who were absorbed with their own lives rather than their kids or the parents wanted to be “friends” with their kids. One thing all these kids and their parents had in common was they lived like God did not exist; not fearing Him at all. When people don't believe in God, nothing holds them back but laws and that is why the left is so liberal and want to change laws-abortion, gay marriage...They don't want laws that restrict their lifestyle, Many hate Christians, while pretending to be Christian (without living it). Their version of Christianity says they can make the rules; so homosexuality and abortion is ok. Anyone who disagrees is judgmental (even though that is God's laws). They have tried to pervert Christianity with their version of it.

I have news for you, the people want to be immoral. The media crap is no excuse, during the 1980's I avoided the media memes by going to the library and reading Hugo Grotius, Augustine, and Mathew, Mark, Luke, as well as John.

The current generation has no excuse because everything is just a mouse click away from circumventing the "media's" propaganda/secular ideology. Why do the mediacrats make so much money? Because they have eyeballs that *choose* to digest their propaganda.

The sheeple ARE the society (at large). They like it immoral. That’s why it is.

I know you can’t put Nexus on the iPad, but I was thinking just have those issues of the day ready for your iPad revenge on the media. And of course a special ready file of the Hall of Shame of classic demoRat vile vituperations.

You can put anything on the iPad as long as it's been prepped prior to using it on the iPad. The problem with your original idea and the iPad, is that, the iPad doesn't have the capabilities to do the computing necessary to handle the data, and the data would be so huge, that even most desktops and laptops would be overwhelmed. What you had in mind would require a mainframe or a massively parallel computer to handle, with storage into the exabytes range. Remember that, the data would have to encompass many years, and many sources, and many people, and thousands of subjects, and hundreds of categories (not exactly the same as subjects/topics), and many geographical locations, and many authors, and many different publishers, and even many types of publishers (not the same as publishers). The database would require something that could handle huge SQL files, and that could arrange those files into many different access criteria and/or methods. No tablet, and no PC can handle that type of processing, and only a computer or series of computers that are in the same category of computing as a search engine, would be able to handle that kind of system.

But, having said that, the tablets and any other type of computing device, could serve as the presentation means.

I might as well ask you since you seem to know what you are talking about. If someone has a good idea for an iPad app how would you go about it? Would sure like to know where to start for one who doesn’t know anything about app programming.

When it comes to an iPad app, or creating one of your own for your idea, you'd need to know something about programming for the device and its OS, namely, iOS, and there are actually some tutorials about how to go about it, so, doing a look-up in Google for a phrase such as "creating an iPad app", would get you started, but, I warn you, if you're not familiar at all with programming and web pages and the some of the other skills, it's going to take you a while before you can actually create that first app.

Also, you don't want to limit yourself to an iPad app, and you should concentrate on building your application in some form that can be used anywhere, and that would be with HTML5 and a scripting language (a scripting language is not as powerful as a full-blown programming language, but, it's more than adequate for most web pages and web programming. For your original idea, it would be very helpful and advisable to know SQL for handling of the data.

That guy "chillers" is partly right about the interviewing and camera crew, but, your idea could be one that could eventually become accepted for rebuttals and background information. If the idea is used in several places, it could easily become accepted practice. After all, a similar tactic is already in use, where people come in to an interview with charts and newspaper/magazine articles, ready to quote from that information. So, why not a computing device, which could easily contain millions of times more information and organized in a format which could easily be recalled by the user?
