It may take explosives to dislodge the frozen carcasses of a small herd of cows found in an old ranger's cabin high in the Rocky Mountains.

I think a chainsaw would work.
PETA alert!
They should learn something from this: exploding a whale on a beach to ge rid of it
go watch it- it's hilarios as well as educational
Instead of frozen whole cows they are going to have thosands of pieces of cow to clean up
Chainsaw off some steaks!
...thosands of pieces of cow...
Cowcicles
My dad had around a dozen cows standing under a tree in Bama back forty years ago, during a major thunderstorm. Lightning stuck the tree and killed all twelve cows. He had the insurance guy come out, and settle on the cows (he actually made like $300 each). He spent $500 to hire the guy with the local bulldozer then to come out and dig this big hole about 100 hundred feet away from the tree. We dragged the cows into the hole, and had the bulldozer fill in the spot. That’s the only realistic way of handling this. You don’t want to mess with explosives or gasoline. It’s just the wrong logic in a case like this.
Why not let the wolves at ‘em?
That may be and for good reason. Is there any problem that can't be solved by blowing it up? Really.
I think I see the problem.
“rangers are worried about using trucks in a wilderness area, where the government bars permanent improvements and tries to preserve the natural habitat.”
Light the cabin on fire, get a drum of KC Masterpiece, and invite the wolves in for a barbecue. Then, shoot the wolves.
It's a conspiracy, because the cows made contact with the "visitors".
i see that too...
What about getting 10 guys on a rope and DRAG the frozen cows out of the building???
people are so dam lazy these days
A case of Diet Double Dew and Cartman will have them dislodged in a half hour.
Tnree options stated in article
1.nature takes its course
2. Use explosives
3.use a helicopter to remove
I am sure as rain they will use the most expensive way to do this ....
Can we watch on Weasel Zippers?
During the Reagan boom years, a developer bought land in a town that had been a big tannery area until the early 1900s.
80 years later, backhoes were snagging still rotting carcasses of animals.
Of course, the decay could have been slowed from all the leftover chromium and arsenic sites.
That was my thought. Cut the cows up and use four wheelers with trailers to haul the meat out to the closest road. If you are careful not to over use the same path the impact to the environment should be minimal.
Think of that cabin as a meat locker.
I was thinking the same thing. Not only would you have millions of cow parts, you’d also have a blown up cabin. That exploding whale video left a lasting impression on me. Yuck!
The most expensive solution is the correct solution.
I have pieces of frozen cow in my freezer...
Parts is Parts.
Back in the early days they used mercury in tanning which almost entirely stops decompostion.
Herefords Therefords Everywherefords
Cowboom.......
Me thinks they've got a few too many pyromaniacs in the NFS.
Would be a lot more fun than just one dynamite blast.
Need Wile E. Coyote to consult on best approach here.

First problem is that log houses if well caulked are naturally well insulated. This means the cows will thaw slowly. The ones nearer the outside will thaw first and the ones in the middle will stay frozen longer.
Rotting large animals will liquefy internally and bloat with gas until their skin ruptures spilling the liquefied internal organs. With the large animals and large amount of liquid the concern is that this bacterial soup will contaminate the spring water that locals drink from.
The reason you can not leave the cows to the wolves is that wolves are highly territorial and this amount of bovine flesh could not be consumed by the local pack by it self before the contamination of the spring water.
It’s the government. I see half a dozen environmental impact studies to be done. Proposals will be written. Bids will be let out; minority and woman and LGBT contractors will be given first dibs.
I see this taking probably 10 years, $200 million and 250 people to get done.
Alternatively; if a 18 year Iowa farm kid was put in charge; you would 3 guys go up with a winch and rope and have it done in 2 hours.
It is not natural for six or more cows to be frozen solid inside a mountain cabin. They also have cows frozen outside the cabin. What I dont understand is the worry about using trucks.
rangers are worried about using trucks in a wilderness area, where the government bars permanent improvements and tries to preserve the natural habitat.
Only cows and no bulls? It violates the new violence against women act.
Hehe. Love that. Hadn’t seen it before but certainly remember the line.
Wow!
Lets hire those three farm boys to run NASA. We will be on Mars by June.
All they have to do is tie a few branches to the truck bumper and drag it behind them, problem solved!.
Sheesh!
ROTFLMAO!
Government wilderness rules ban chainsaws and all mechanized vehicles.
The eco terrorists want to create more wilderness areas.
UN Agenda 21
“Lets hire those three farm boys to run NASA. We will be on Mars by June. “
No; that would take until at least July.
“Only cows and no bulls? It violates the new violence against women act.”
It’s the new Republican war on Rosie.
If the work is done by rangers or park maintenance workers I dont think those rules would apply.
I just wonder how long it will take the government to fine the rancher and stick him with the bill for disposal of the carcasses.
But they would never allow him to go in to the park with his own equipment (light trucks or four runners) to remove them. Even though if he got in before the ground thawed there would be little impact on the environment.
If happy cows live in California, then exploding cows live in Colorado!
Check out Discovery Channel, or NatGeo websites..A while back they hav a program about an “exploding” whale..It’s very popular, airs often, and should be oin the website. A whale had died, and beached in Japan..they were towing it to an aquarium, to do an autopsy ( or is it necropsy?)..anyways, they’re hauling it on a flatbed, though downtown of some some large Japanese city..and in the moddle of the city..the whale explodes....the videos ar equite funny..they finally figured out that the gases from decompositon had build up inside the whale, and kaboom..
It’s just a matter of how much it will cost, and how long the area will have to be closed. It is very remote and inaccessible, but it is a ‘valuable” recreational trail.
Bottom line is, the cheapest and quickest way to open the trail is to turn the cows into very small bits, and let nature remove them. A few guys, a few hundred pounds of dynamite, and a few days, done, efficiently.
BTW, the whale dispersal was botched.
That whale being blown up was the first thing that came to mind when I read this headline.
I would think an industrial size wood chipper, 4 men and a couple of chain saws would be cheaper.
Two chopper trips and youre done and you dont have to worry about blowing yourself up.
