A 14-year-old boy accused of having sex with a 12-year-old girl at school is facing rape charges.
Police said the teens said what happened was consensual and that the incident allegedly happened during school hours.
However, the Warren County Prosecutor said the boy was charged with rape because the girl is under the age of 13, which is Ohio law.
Residents said it is hard to imagine this all happened at school.

Does anybody else find it slightly amusing in a sad sort of way that our culture does everything to promote sex at the youngest age possible and the School System teaches Sex Education at an early age and passes out free birth control and condomss....but then everybody goes ape-sh*t when the kids actually take them up on the offer?
Rape? If he raped her because she’s only 12, she raped him back because he’s only 14. Nobody’s old enough to consent.

Finally, the prosecutor should be taken out and shot in public to be made an example of where the kind of judgment that leads a 12 year old and 14 year old to have sex at school will get you.
Heck 3/4 of males in this country would be charged with "rape" at the same age back in years/decades past.

I agree. In fact, girls mature sexually a few years sooner than boys. If it was said to be consensual by the participants, there is no rape.

It does not have to be at schools. Who here didn't mess around in your parents basement with the girl next door (or boy next door if you are a woman) at that age? That is part of growing up.
And yes, I know that 12 and 14 year olds shouldn't be doing that, but I'm looking at this from the 'law' and 'charges' aspect of this case.

A 14-year-old Springboro boy has been charged with a juvenile count of rape and placed on house arrest for allegedly having consensual sex with a 12-year-old female classmate at Springboro Junior High School in a school bathroom during study hall last month.
The charged student, who is not being identified, first appeared for arraignment in Warren County Common Pleas Court Juvenile Division on March 29, according to court records. The alleged incident took place March 26 at Springboro Junior High School, and the girl told police she “had sex with the suspect,” according to records.
By Ohio law, engaging in sexual conduct with any person less than 13 years old is rape, whether that conduct is consensual or not.
Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell said a relative of the girl called police after discovering the alleged incident took place. The investigation showed the two students arranged to meet in the bathroom on a break from study hall, according to the prosecutor. The students were not gone for an unusual amount of time, he said.
The length of their absence “would not have signaled anything out of the ordinary,” he said.

I guess I was slow. Or maybe it was the girls since 12 year olds didn’t act and dress like Subic Bay whores in 1976. I was experimenting with kissing and trying to covertly touch a breast at 14, not having sex at school. But, as long as one person did it, then its OK for everyone!! Like this is the first time anything like that’s happened. Not advocating it, but lord knows, hardly are kids fooling around with each other during school hours something new.
I know I cut class more than once to have some alone time with a gal in my youth somewhere on the grounds.
Certainly not advocating it, but to call this rape and have criminal charges involved? A bit over the top.
This isn’t a case of moral relavatism, I don’t think anyone here is saying kids doing things like this at school means its okay, but to deny the fundamental realities that this sort of thing is going to happen is silly. Rape Charges? Really?
I was 13 in 1982, and I can tell you, my curiosity lead me to do some things and some of them were done on school grounds and during school hours.
Definitely would not condone it, or endorce it, and the kids should be punished for it, but rape charges? That’s flat out rediculous.

LOL...not to make light of the issue, but I couldn’t help laughing...remembering when I was nine and my sister was seven, and we suddenly had the crazy notion to take off every stitch of our clothes and jump on the bed like a trampoline while shrieking like little Indians...which naturally is the exact time my foster mother came in the room, then she was the one shrieking.

I’ll go with the sad part. have we not read stories of condoms being offered out in middle schools? I don’t condone what they did but to me this is something for the parents to handle. Besides much about laws regarding ages of consent for anything are well,awkward for lack of a better word. Everyone grows up at a different pace. This young girl may pass for 15. Not saying he didn’t know her age but she could be much more physically mature than another 12 year old. Theres no magic formula for how we develop.

I had classmates having full-on intercourse with each other in 7th grade. Over 40 years ago. In Catholic school.
And don't forget, "they" -- the government figures don't give a hoot about justice or upholding some law, they simply "want the goods" on decent people. That way, they're open to deals and plea bargains. It's the way things get done.
People not paying close attention have no idea what “comprehensive sex education” actually means. They think, oh good, the kids will learn not to get pregs. The gay/straight club? Oh sweet. The kiddos have club to protect homo children from being beat up.
