A 14-year-old boy accused of having sex with a 12-year-old girl at school is facing rape charges.

Police said the teens said what happened was consensual and that the incident allegedly happened during school hours.

However, the Warren County Prosecutor said the boy was charged with rape because the girl is under the age of 13, which is Ohio law.

Residents said it is hard to imagine this all happened at school.

I can better this. Back in the middle 1970s, I was dating a lady that was a 3d grade school teacher. One of her teacher friends came running into her room and took her with her to her friend's class room. There, the teacher told and showed her where she had just caught two THIRD graders trying to have sex. The boy told them that he'd watch his “mama and daddy giten it on” at home and was trying to “do” the girl!!! The parents were called to come get these two stellar children and take them home. I am sure both grew up to be wonderful adults and parents later on in life!

I’m a little skeptical too, but wouldn’t be surprised. The really evil part of this is that the boy will be charged with rape, while the girl gets away scot-free. He will be a “sex offender, child predator” for his entire life and she can go on as if nothing happened, perhaps even ruining some other boys’ lives.

I'm not so sure we can pin it on sex-ed. When I was in 7th to 9th grade (12-14 y.o.), I remember kids that were openly interested in sex and bragged about it. Especially the girls. The pretty girls typically had boyfriends that were several years older. By the last year in high school, just about everyone was having sex.

Our sex-ed was very tame, maybe a few hours total per year and basically consisted of “if you mix bodily fluids, you will get aids and die a horrible death”. We didn't have condom demos or any graphic descriptions. Condoms, pills, etc were mentioned in the 11th grade, but nothing graphic.

We also didn't have internet porn. A few kids might have had a magazine or VHS, but it was nothing compared to now. I think kids around that age always have been interested in sex. I remember when I was only 9 and trying to figure it out by reading science books at the library.

The difference today is our lack of discipline that makes them think it's OK to do it in school. Also, it is much more common now for kids to be home without any supervision so the chances for them to have sex are much greater. Then again, when I was that young it wasn't uncommon for kids to go into the woods to “get busy”.
