Lindsay Lohan has signed on for her first lead role since 2009 after being cast as Elizabeth Taylor in Liz and Dick, an account of Taylor's tempestuous relationship with Richard Burton.

My best friend of 35 years is a movie person. She is retired now and just lays around and watches movies and reads People magazines, etc to keep up on what the stars are doing.
She is constantly talking about this or that movie and the people who star in them. I am constantly telling her.....have never heard of it and have no clue who that is.
She needs to get a life.

I like Carrie Fisher’s joke about what happened when Elizabeth Taylor’s husband Mike Todd died in a plane crash - a man who was a close friend of Eddie Fisher and the “Todd” he named his son after.

Oh, is it old fashioned to sleep with a man who isn’t your husband, whose wife is a friend of yours, have him get divorced - and THEN marry him?
That’s interesting. Lohan is a beautiful woman in a way that stands out from all the other pretty hollywood stars.
I used to think that she reminded me of Marilyn Monroe.
I know she’s self destructive but if she can hold it together, this might be a good choice.
I never think of Liz Taylor as being trashy or a tramp.
I know she had a problem in later life with overeating and maybe overindulgence in the grape, but, hey, who doesn’t?

And, yes, people would be interested in the Burton/Taylor romance. I would.
I don’t know the names of 3/4 of the people mentioned in magazines or on the net now, but That was a couple.
I’ll never forget the picture of Debbie Reynolds forlornly holding a baby with diaper pins attached to her blouse.
When she was a redhead she reminded me of a young Ann Margret.
