MINNEAPOLIS (AP/WCCO) A Minnesota Vikings running back is in jail after he allegedly beat up a 22-year-old man early Saturday morning at a birthday party in Oak Grove.
Twenty-four-year-old Caleb King is currently in the Anoka County Jail, pending formal charges, authorities said.
King and the victim came as guests to a 21-year-old womans birthday party. The party took place at a home on the 3400 block of 192nd Avenue Northwest, which belonged to the womans parents.
Things appeared to be going well until 3:15 a.m., when the victim allegedly told King he looked like a celebrity. King took offense to the remark and followed the victim to a car.
When close to the car, King punched the victim in the face...
After the attack, the victim told police the homeowners helped him into the home but refused to call police. Instead they told him theyd drop him off at his house. However, when the victim initially tried to call 911, authorities were able to track the phones location and send an officer.
When police arrived at the scene, the homeowner said there had been no problem at the party and that no one needed help. As the homeowner spoke with police, the victim was inside his home, suffering from his injuries.
Its the latest off-the-field issue for King, a highly touted recruit at Georgia who ran into several problems during his college career. He was arrested for failing to appear for a court date on a speeding ticket and declared academically ineligible in his final year at Georgia and went undrafted in the supplemental draft before signing with the Vikings.
The celebrity King was compared to is not known.

Well that's believable.
The victim, a Coon Rapids man whom police have not identified, is in serious condition at Mercy Hospital. Police say he suffered fractures on his face and skull injuries that required more than 50 stitches to close.
Police arrested King at the house without incident. He denied that he punched the victim, saying that the man just fell over while the two were talking.
Mr. T with hair & mustache.
If Obama had a son, he would look like........
The original pillage people would have punched her in the face, raped, kidnapped and sacked the village and toasted Odin for a good outing.
There would appear to be plenty of felony behavior for interfering with a 911 call, and lying to police about the need for help, keeping the injured man from obtaining medical help, and the injury from the thug, and mostly, that the Viks think they can rehab a thug.
>>>Well that’s believable.<<<
Come on, maybe an asteroid hit him.
A racist, white-atmospheric asteroid!
No mention about the race of the victim. Mmmm....
King looked like a celebrity... Mike Tyson.
Caleb King. IQ 78.
King is accused of punching him repeatedly and throwing him headfirst to the ground. The man was hospitalized in serious condition with skull and facial fractures, as well as with cuts that required more than 50 stitches to close, Sheriff’s Cmdr. Paul Sommer said.
The man “may have a very serious brain injury,” Sommer said.
I must live in a different world, a birthday party still going on at at 3:00 am? Like my Dad always told me “Nothing good happens after mid-night.”
"...honest officer, he fell over into my fist, got up and fell over into my other fist!"
They should not be taken on a team with a history of criminal activity in the first place.
Character should have a lot to do with chosing players. Thugs cause too many problems and lose too many fans.
I can tell you that, as a store clerk who often works night shift, your pa is correct. The people up at this time are doing things they wouldn’t want other people to know about.
Someone named Mischelle!
a Coon Rapids man
That sounds a bit politically incorrect
Also figure the name is ‘grandfathered’ and back when places were being name the only species would have been the 4 legged ones.
However, one never knows.
Note to self: Never say ANYTHING to a professional football player.
It took some astute person to point this out, because, initially, I missed it, my bad.
