Tim McCarver: Global Warming Increasing the Number of Home Runs ( so it's not steroids?)
NewsBusters ^ | 4/28/2012 | Noel Sheppard

Posted on 04/29/2012 10:48:15 AM PDT by Signalman

There have been all kinds of reasons given for the increasing number of home runs in baseball over the decades including more tightly-sewn balls, steroids, improved fitness training programs, and bat technology.

On Saturday, renowned Fox sportscaster Tim McCarver blamed it all on Al Gore's favorite money-making scam.

"It has not been proven, but I think ultimately it will be proven that the air is thinner now, there have been climactic changes over the last 50 years in the world, and I think that’s one of the reasons balls are carrying much better now than I remember," McCarver said during Saturday's game between the Milwaukee Brewers and the St. Louis Cardinals.

He then commented about some recent shots that went further than he would have expected leading his co-announcer Joe Buck to marvelously ask, “So that’s your ‘inconvenient truth’ about Major League Baseball?”

"Well," the former catcher responded, "I think they’re going to find that out one of these days, yes I do."

"That’s a theory," he continued, "but we’ll see."

So now you can't even turn on a baseball game without being propagandized on this issue.

Heaven help us.

His ignorance of meteorology is only matched by his ignorance about baseball.

Maybe global warming is also responsible for expanding MLB from the 20 teams in McCarver's time to the 30 teams now playing and diluting pitching talent. It has not been proven, but I think ultimately it will be proven that global warming is responsible for anything and everything.

How does Tim explain the increase in no hitters and perfect games?

It’s true. Tim is absolutely right.

Last year I hit 58 home runs.

And I don’t even play baseball. Not even last year.

Athletes are bigger, faster and stronger now than in years past, but this applies to EVERY major sport. Just the way it is.

BTW, the Earth’s climate is always changing, and that doesn’t imply that humans are responsible for it - 95% of yearly CO2 comes from volcanoes, 5% from humans ...

So Babe Ruth had SUVs to thank for all of those home runs he hit?

So if we had global warming in 1972 the Reds would have beat the A’s since Joe Rudi’s great catch against the outfield wall would not have happened since that ball would have been a HR. Wow!!

The insane are running the asylum. Back in 2010-2011 we were told that global warming caused more snow because warmer air holds more water. So, if the air now holds more water, its density has increased. Thus, there should be less home runs, not more.

Is the air thin or is Tim McCarver’s brain thick? Maybe global warming is making Tim dumber.

There’s a reason I can’t hit the mute button fast enough when I hear that idiot Tim McCarver’s idiotic voice.

No hitters come from climate change. Home runs from global warming. Increased base stealing from global warming. Everybody knows this.

As well...the Yankees always win excessively during periods of drought. The Dodgers win in years with a 4. The Cubs always win when the right guy pays the right bribe. The Rockies typically lose on Wednesdays. Babe Ruth was a global warming enthusiast.

Yeah, this all makes sense now.

Global warming hasn't helped Albert Pujols.

And as a resident of Texas I expect you hope it stays like that!

It is also going to be fun to see how Darvish deals with the Texas heat when he is used to pitching in a climate controlled stadium - and pitching every five days instead of once a week.

We live in interesting times.

Fortunately, the Rangers have one of the deepest bullpens in MLB. They have the luxury of having their starters only having to go 5-6 innings.
