Word For The Day, Monday, 4/30/12

;

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

Bemuse;transitive verb CLICK THE WORD FOR PRONUNCIATION

: to make confused : puzzle, bewilder 2: to occupy the attention of : distract, absorb 3: to cause to have feelings of wry or tolerant amusement — be·mus·ed·ly \-ˈmyü-zəd-lē\ adverb — be·muse·ment \-ˈmyüz-mənt\ noun

Etymology: "to make utterly confused," from be- + muse (cf. amuse), attested from 1735 but probably older, as Pope (1705) punned on it as "devoted utterly to the Muses."

Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Saw this bumpersticker on the way in to work in DC this AM.

AND it was on a hybrid. It brightened my day.

I have to practice my bemused face as I survey the utter chaos I expect at work today.

He has nothing that is grade A, even his muse is grade B (at best, more like D or F).

Those who were once bemused by O are now finding themselves abused.
And they are not amused.

Commentary on Fox & Friends this AM circulates around Obama’s attempt to bemuse the voting public with his new campaign ad patting himself on the back for killing Bin Laden while predicting that Romney would not have acted. What’s up with that?

I think the “Tipping Point” for the American Public, White Guilt, Political Correctness, etc may be near, but I am an eternal optimist.

Logically i think you may be right, i think people may be fed up with all of that crap, but i am the eternal pessimist and always expect the worst and am pleasantly surprised if anything less bad happens : ) it’s an eastern european thang.

Hey Chrissy—doth Barry bemuse?
Or was that leg-tingle merely a ruse
We’ve all had our fill
Of accomplishments—nil!
All he does is deflect and confuse

Bemuse

Now I know a lot of the guests that show up here early just bring another cup of water for the soup but this bone has some meat left on it worth gnawing on. Anywho...

If this bemuse means udderly confused like a cow can't decide to give milk or be hamburger then I went to a bemuseum for a school since Mr. Fossil was our school master and he's utterly cornfused on corn squeeze.
In other wise bemuse was Beam Use, Jim Beam, Mr. Fossil's friend.
