Instability in Egypt and Syria has led the Israel Defense Forces to call up 6 additional battalions for emergency duty, with 16 others available if needed.
I base all my news on Youtube videos. We are doomed.
Seriously, this is nothing just like it has been for years. Israel won’t do anything.
Here is my take on what will happen before summer.
Here is an updated version of the spreadsheet that accompanies the article.
If Israel doesn’t do anything, not a single Israeli will be doing anything 10 years from now because they’ll all be dead.
Nice looking gal(hot even). I remember when I was stationed in Germany, Ayers Kaserne(no relation to Bill Ayers),in 1961 I was reading a magazine some buddy had received from home. It had two amazing articles in it, one on Mini Skirts with pictures that were stunning to all of us who had grown up in the 1950s with the long skirts then in vogue. The other article was about the Israeli army and showed a loney outpost with two troopers manning a look out and a machine gun. One of the troopers was a stunningly beautiful Israeli girl, and I remember thinking, “I am in the wrong army!”.
Darn, post 8 “loney outpost” should be Lonely outpost. Must remember to proof read.
“If Israel doesnt do anything, not a single Israeli will be doing anything 10 years from now because theyll all be dead.”
Oh ye of little faith.
Typically, how many people are in a battalion?
You have a lot of time on your hands, don’t you. The way to play this is to write a book and then get on Coast to Coast AM Radio as a guest a couple of times!
BTW, my unit was part of CCA, Elvis was stationed there part of the time I was there and he was in CCB or CCC, never could find out just which one he was in.
Bah. Just loan me the football for 5 minuttes. And we are saved!
I have never been in the military tho I asked to be drafted during the Viet Nam period. I failed the physical due to a hearing loss. Never thought it would disqualify me tho I knew I had it.
I have always been a student of military history and have often been impressed with the quality of American soldiers, sailors, marines etc. Going all the way back to reading about a handful of U.S. Marines capturing some North African fortress back around 1800 through the Seals rescue of the Maersk, Alabama Captain.
I can recall my Father always referred to his WWII outfit by the Battalion number, not by company, platoon, division etc.
A battalion is typically about 800 troops.
Four companies or batteries or the equivalent, each of about 200 individuals.
A battalion is the lowest “organic” level of organization. An infantry battalion for instance will have four infantry companies, a service company (with mechanics, engineers, special equipment, etc), a small headquarters company. The battalion is sort of like the military equivalent of a town or company. In the U.S. Army it is the lowest echelon with a Sergeant Major, for instance.
It’s roughly the equivalent of the Roman cohort.
PS: The battalion is also the lowest echelon with “staff officers”, S-1 (adminstration and personnel), S-2 ( security and intelligence), S-3 (operations), S-4 (Logistics and maintenance). It is also lowest echelon with an IG and supply organization or a chaplain.
The Unit is always designated by Battalion or higher. For instance, I was in Co B 2nd Med Tank Battalion 13th Cavalry
Regiment. It always starts with the lowest part of the unit and works its way up. Later our unit was changed to Co B, 2nd Med Tank Battalion, 32nd Armor Regiment. Same outfit, different name. And we were part of Combat Command A(CCA). There were three Combat Commands in Germany at the time CCA, CCB and CCC. We had a part of one light tank(M24s)battalion and part of one heavy tank(M103s)battalion plus the 36th infantry Battalion stationed at our Kaserne also and one self propelled gun(artillery)outfit, can’t remember the unit designation of that one.
BTW, we had 4 tank companies and one headquarters company in our battalion. The Headquarters company was bigger than the tank companies.
She can call me up any time she wants. I’ll find a way to rise to the occasion.
