calex, I’m sorry, so very sorry. I have an older brother who I adore, too...and I’ve always said losing him will be probably The Hardest Thing I’ll ever have to do.
Someone upthread said that maybe it’s now time to reverse the roles and YOU take care of HIM as he taught you all those years. Make him laugh, in spite of this. Talk about “the old days”....it’ll be good for both of you.
I’ve pinged Logan’s and trussell’s ping list, we’ll be praying for all of you.
Prayers lifted....
Prayers up the newer drugs are giving them longer lives.
Check out this it works on muscles http://altmedicine.about.com/cs/herbsvitaminsad/a/Arginine.htm
Losing a child is too. Losing 2 is even harder.
Am going to give it a try as I have Fibromyalgia and the joint and muscle pain, plus Peripheral Neuropathy leg pain, keep me awake most nights, I refuse to take those dangerous sleeping pills, I live in Memphis, and it is not a safe city to live in, even if you are on the edge of it. Crime is mobile and I want to hear the alarm and the dogs not sleep through them.
Our Father,
We call forth your intercession for healing and blessing of Calex, his brother, and their entire family and all who are in a similar situation of need according to thy gracious will.
Amen
For what it’s worth:
Dr Mary Newport’s husband was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimers. During her research on this condition, she learned that ketones from medium chain triglycerides actually are an alternative fuel for brain and neurological tissues. Her husband responded remarkably well to this treatment. As she began publicizing this information, people began giving her positive feed back for other conditions besides Alzheimers, such as ALS, parkinsons, and epilepsy.
IMHO, it is something to look into.
For a segment which appeared on the CBN 700 Club, and some other links, see this:

The film clip does briefly mention coconut oil as a possible promising treatment for ALS and those other neurological conditions.
Dr. Oz has had a segment on it in recent months as well, but I do not have the link handy.
