Video: Danica Patrick wrecks Sam Hornish Jr. after checkered flag

Danica Patrick wasn't pleased with Sam Hornish Jr. in Saturday's Nationwide Series race at Talladega and made it known by wrecking him after the checkered flag.

In light of what had just happened moments earlier with Eric McClure having to be airlifted to the hospital after a multi-car wreck, her behavior is all the more astonishing. However, neither driver was called to the NASCAR hauler after the incident.

Hornish finished 12th and Patrick 13th in a race won by Joey Logano.

Sam Hornish Jr.:

"... After the race was over, we got right-reared by the 7 car (Danica Patrick). I don't know what she had in her head, but she decided to right-rear us, wreck the car after the race was over. That's really frustrating. It's not the worst day ever, but not what we wanted. I feel like we may have gone a little too early. We got separated and then Brad got wrecked. “

Danica Patrick:

"I don't know what happened. Sam came up to me after the race and apologized, so I'm not sure what was wrong with his car, but he came across the track at the front of the start/finish line."

Worked for me. Hornish put her in the wall and she returned the favor. You have to stand your ground in NASCAR or be pushed around. I guess she doesn’t like being pushed around.

Looks like she’s adjusting to NASCAR.

His excuse was pure BS. He drove her right into the wall and I can guarantee you that his spotter was telling him outside, outside. If he blew the RF tire, he would never have kept if off the wall in the tri-oval or even on a straight, and more importantly, made the turn one transition. He knew what he did and I also have to say she was wrong to make that move after the race was over. There is a lot of races still to come and justice is best served when not expected in racing.

Mike Helton most assuredly is going to meet with them and both will feel the sting of his words. It is just we will not hear about it this time. Now the next, if there is one, will be made a public smackdown.

She’s the Anna Kournikova of Nascar. She never wins anything, but she gets the attention because she’s hot.

I thought Junior was the Anna Kournikova of NASCAR.

My reading of history indicates that men’s giving attention to women they consider “hot” is not a new thing. Women’s turning that attention into money, in one way or another, is also not a new thing.

I saw it when it happened and during the replays. She did the right thing.

It was Hornish's fault. He cut her off and pushed her into the wall to keep her from passing and she paid him back.

Over and done. And Hornish apologized to her after the race.

Respect on the track is earned.

“Back in the old days, the two drivers would have settled this back in the pits man-to-man but I guess that isn’t an option in this case.”

In this case, couldn't the driver's have gotten a bottle of Jack Daniels, a couple of packs of cigarettes, and a room at Motel 6 to fight it out over the weekend. The first one to die from exhaustion would be declared the loser and the other would have a tremendous feeling of accomplishment — not to mention a smile.

Oh, wait! Mr. Patrick objects to Mrs. Patrick’s solution to the problem. Better to just shoot him, Mr. Patrick.

"...*intentionally* coming up behind the other driver and intentionally rear ending him, sending the car out of control, is a whole different story."

Yeah.

I think it's called "The Dale Earnhart Story." Get a grip. Care to count the number of races Ole Number Three won by putting guys in front of him into the wall? Intentionally.

If you can't take the heat, go fix your eyeliner, Petunia. This is where the grownups play.

If you saw the replay, Sam pushed her into the wall as she tried to pass him. She pushed him back. Not a big deal. People enjoy this sort of thing when it’s Allison, Foyt and Petty, but for some reason they think Danica is childish or a spoil sport for doing the same thing.

What about intentionally running her into the wall because she was going to pass him? The misogyny and jealousy is pretty thick around here.

I have no problem with Danica serving justice DURING THE RACE. I do have a problem that she wrecked him AFTER the race.

If she had done it in another race later in the season, I would have said “well done!”. As it stands now, she just increased my dislike of her.

All-righty then. You didn’t like her before and now you like her even less.

You approve of wrecking an individual after a race has finished?

That’s pretty low. Also, I would disapprove of any driver who pulled this crap.

It’s just racing. It’s sort of like punishing your dog the day after he pooped on the carpet. He won’t know what you’re punishing him for. It’s always best to mete out the punishment as soon as the offense is committed so that the offender knows what it’s for. You and your fellow misogynists won’t remember the next time she races and spins Hornish or blocks him, you’ll just pile on the hate, while conveniently forgetting what happened at the end of this race. You all are like liberals when it comes to women for some reason.

Unbelievable! These “guys” act like they’ve never seen a race before. Don’t tell them there’s cursing on the radios during the race.

I’m curious: How am I a misogynist? Because I disapprove of how Danica wrecked Hornish? Because I am not a fan of Ms. Patrick? I’m piling on hate?

You are one of the more ignorant people I have had the displeasure of conversing with. All you do is accuse me of being a misogynist based on the fact that I disapprove of how Ms. Patrick handled Hornish.

You also seemed to miss the fact that I would have APPROVED of Ms. Patrick’s behavior if she had wrecked Hornish in another race. Far from misogynist wouldn’t you think?

“It’s sort of like punishing your dog the day after he pooped on the carpet. He won’t know what you’re punishing him for. It’s always best to mete out the punishment as soon as the offense is committed so that the offender knows what it’s for.” This implies that Sam Hornish Jr. has the intelligence level of a dog which is absurd. I’m quite sure that he would know why he was wrecked by Danica later in the season. Based on this comment, if I was to follow your example, I could accuse you of Misandry.

It's why I don't watch stock cars or NASCAR. They're boring and now have politically correct female drivers.

Does NASCAR have lesbian and gay drivers yet? If not, they will.

Unlike this female driver who threw a tantrum, intentionally rear-ending another driver, some frustrated road-raged skill-less drivers will just blow your brains out.

For instance, this race car lady would never make it on LA freeways where ya got 10,000 ahead of you, who don't want ya to pass. She'd lose big.
