Are you tired of paying the high taxes of California, and watching the idiots in your State and Local Government squander your hard earned money?
There are other places to live. And you should check them out.
Think about it. Don't continue to be their slaves. MOVE!
There are other areas to live, but California people love the beach, and at the Florida Panhandle, the water is warm.

As a former Californian who has moved to a cooler climate, Florida would be the last place on Earth I would live. Earthquakes I can tolerate, but hurricanes yearly, NO WAY!

Redneck Riviera!! The only place in the world besides home, that when we go there on annual vacation, it also feels just like home.

MOVE you say? Just curious, what's the going average price for property or a condo there?
And what's the going cost for property insurance?

On the beach? Outrageous, just like any beach. A mile inland? If you live in California, you literally would not believe what your money would get you.
(Disclaimer: I live near the Alabama coast, not Florida.)

I left CA for Idaho. Love my new location. Too bad I can’t be home to enjoy it. I have to go where there is work with a decent income. That is San Diego until I can arrange something equal or better.

How much advance notice do you get for earthquakes?
I was at March AFB for the Landers 6.8 and 7.2, and for the Northridge 6.8.
You get plenty of notice of advancing hurricanes.
Now tornadoes are a little more tricky.

Don't tell the Kalifornia wackos how nice it is in the South. We don't need these people down here.
A reminder for Kalifornians & damn Yankees: The South is full of rednecks with guns. They don't wash themselves or brush their few remaining teeth. There are swamps & mosquitoes. Lots of deadly snakes. The roads are all dirt. The nicest homes are trailers. Country music blares from every tractor.
And strangers are shot on sight.

Yes, we have hurricanes every week from June until November, the Swamp People vacation here when alligator season is closed, the local rednecks have 4 wheel drive pulling contests on the beach every Saturday and Sunday, all of the food in restaurants and even in the grocery stores is deep fried, and there are no vegetables offered anywhere.
Don’t move here!

To be honest, I’m too tired and too lazy, and my posting skills suck, but Yosemitest posted these links to me. Look at the one for Crestview. It has MLS listings for the area that were easy to quickly look at.
There’s always Crestview.

We like to put our kayak in on the bay at the spot just north of where the buildings stop, next to the old wrecked piers. Great spot.
Living here has been awesome, too bad my husband’s job got Obamanized and we’re going to have to relocate somewhere else. Never thought I’dlike living in Florida but Okaloose is OK.

If you are really really lucky you give them all of your pay checks, your social security number, access to all your accounts, and your first and second born child and THEN you can have a small (700 square foot) condo in some run down dump of a ghetto.

Well no actually I was looking for something at a lower altitude. That is a great view of the southern most point in the Florida panhandle. Not too far and back to the east a bit is where the Empire Mica rests after being sunk by a German U-boat when it rounded the Cape outside the shoals back during the big one. You would not happen to have a shot of the Indian Pass Raw Bar would you?

Leenie. Those are sand bars. You can step out of your boat and play in the ware. In some cases you can walk out to them from the shoreline. The sand is so white it looks like snow. We took Christmas photos there and everyone thought it was snow. Been there sine 1982. Haven’t blown away yet.Beats the heck out of California. And the people there is not as smart as those in California (sarc).Just better.

Hey there, except for the mosquitoes and swamps, you just described where I live in Tulare County California. Well, ok, we have blaring Mariachi music, but the rest of it is spot on. California’s inland is as Red as it gets. The crazy people live on the coast.

What are you looking for?
If you're looking to be close to the beach but cheap cost of living, you can't beat Navarre, about 2 miles north of 98 and 2 miles west of 87.
You can check out their local press. Only problem is a supersonic air to ground range about 8 miles northeast of there, but the fighters are below supersonic speed before coming out of the range.
But the bomb drops and air to ground gun fire can go on until about 10pm.
The water is better east of
Destin.
Destin is a
vacation community, and considered very expensive, but really is the place to visit.
Just east of Fort Walton Beach FL is Oakaloosa Island, owned by Eglin AFB, but open to the public, except for a few small areas used by Special Forces for water landing training.
Its beautiful and where the horses running on the beach scene was shot in the movie Secondhand Lions.
Its about 5 miles of open Gulf of Mexico Beach with Emerald Green water, warm, and inviting, pictured in the opening post.
Seagrove Beach, FL is better, but more expensive, due to being the area where The Truman Show was shot.
There many retirees from all over the country that call Seagrove home.
If you're looking for rolling hills, then you'll be more than an hour away from the beach.
Sycamore, FL west of Tallahassee, Fl is about the hilliest area of Florida I know, and close to
Torreya State Park.
If you like clear fresh water and floats down the river, then consider
Manattee Road, FL near Manatee Springs State Park.
It's west south west of Gainsville, about 43 miles.

One other thing, you can't beat the
BX and
Commissary at Eglin AFB. It's one of the largest in the country.
The choices of merchandise are just fantastic. They compare or beat Ft Sam Houston BX and Commissary in San Antonio, TX.

You forgot to mention the proliferation of tobacco use and country western music. Surely those California people would never have any interest in relocating to this part of the country.
They'd be terribly unhappy, and it would break my heart to see them that way. For their own happiness, I would implore them to stay in California....
