(CNN) -- A graphic video played at a hearing Monday to determine whether two California police officers should stand trial in the beating death of a homeless man showed them kicking and punching the mentally ill man as he lay on the ground -- screaming in pain and begging for help.
The victim, Kelly Thomas, died five days after the beating on July 5.
Manuel Ramos, a 10-year veteran of the Fullerton, California, police department, is charged with second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter, while Cpl. Jay Patrick Cicinelli faces charges of involuntary manslaughter and felony use of excessive force in the same case.
Both have pleaded not guilty.

In the video, listen to the audio where it’s clearly heard the young unarmed man is screaming for his life, screaming he could not breath, begging for mercy, screaming for his Dad to help, who was not even present.
The man died, brutally beaten to death. Watch/listen this, and tell me this video complete with audio, “doesn’t look that bad”.

Anyone watching/listening to this video and seeing the after images of the young unarmed guy beaten to a dead pulp, understands, this is really bad.
In fact, in the video, you can hear the cop tell this guy, "You see my fists? They're getting ready to f--- you up."
Do you have speakers hooked up to your computer? This video has audio, I suggest you listen to it.
And if ya don't think the video looked that bad to you, take a look at what happened to this young guy.
Does this look bad to you?
This is the result of that incident, where you suggested, "It don't look that bad to me".
How about the audio?
And comments there? Ya think he could have beat himself to death while the cops were trying to stop him?

Horrible crime. I’ve never been a big cop basher. Kind of just indifferent, but with all the dog killings that have been going on by police, and the attitude of some that I’ve had the occasion to meet, I’m getting to the point where I don’t have much use for a lot of them. These two should be up for murder. There was no need to kill that man. The cop didn’t like the guy’s attitude and was going to show him who was boss. He was the judge, jury, and executioner. Guess he hadn’t had a dog to kill in a while and was a little testy. RIP to the homeless man.
I’m surprised the boot lickers haven’t been by to tell us how we don’t understand the dangers of their job, which magically is the most dangerous job in the world. That is, unless you look at statistics for other jobs.

Because it would cause them to have to defend the indefensible; unfortunately there are plenty of people who will defend, and rationalize, such overstepping of authority. This case is more of a losing deal for them ONLY because the damage was so immediate and observable, compared to some of the stuff that’s been pushed about by “the powers that be” (usually the judicial & legislative) this guy may have gotten a better deal (a very quick death, comparatively) than what we will be getting with things like the NDAA, declaring the continental US a war-zone, and asserting the ability to target and execute (without trial) a *suspected* terrorist... well, I can easily imagine a brutal and possibly very-protracted conflict.
This all brings me back to the point: those in authority must be held accountable for their actions. The mere position of authority is not to be a shield against the consequences of one’s decisions.
One line goes, "If you're big, strong and stupid, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department wants you." Then the songs ends with pigs snorting.

This wasn't manslaughter... This was a murder in the 2nd degree at the very least.
