Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone says the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, which hosts the Canadian Grand Prix, needs major reconstruction work before he is willing to discuss a contract renewal with organisers.

Ferrari's Felipe Massa has questioned the value of holding a three-day test at Mugello during the season, saying he felt it would have been better to have an extra test before the start of the season.

Mercedes team boss Ross Brawn will not travel to the Spanish Grand Prix this weekend on doctors' advice. He is expected to return for the Monaco Grand Prix later this month. Technical director Bob Bell will take over his duties.

Richard Cregan, the chief executive at Yas Marina Circuit, says the young driver test at Silverstone has the "potential to overlook talent". Cregan's Abu Dhabi track usually hosts the test at the end of the season, but this year the teams have the option of running after the British Grand Prix in July instead.

Volkswagen has ruled out a move into F1 in the near future as either an engine supplier or a full constructor. The German manufacturer revealed three years ago that a 2014 entry - at which point the sport's engine rules are due a major overhaul - was being evaluated.

Just heard Hamilton was disqualified for not making it back to the paddock (lack of fuel). That means he’ll start dead last.

Oops. Hope he keeps his temper in check this time (and the race card in his pocket).
