Political years, such as 2012, are times for massive histrionics—from politicians of all persuasions, left, right, and center. Political conventions, which will hit us before we know it, are particularly prone to repeated, demagogic histrionics.
The VERY WORST in living memory was the 2008 Democrat “Hope and Change” convention, which energized hordes of young people, women, and minorities to go out and vote for “the one”.
I hope that the electorate is so jaded and exhausted by all that histrionic foofarar that they won’t even watch the 2012 party conventions!!!!
Isn’t that the truth? I guess I’m very connected to my son’s education because we homeschooled him. So I’m always asking what they discussed or he tells me something interesting he learned. But we have ALWAYS loved the summer!

I heard (somewhere) that liberals are displaying their histrionics by declaring they are canceling vacation plans in NC because of the Marriage Amendment. Fine, more beach for me when I go there on vacation.
Our oldest son lives near Dallas. Our daughter-in-law is homeschooling their kids, and they are way ahead of where the public school kids are, and even most of the kids in the pricey private schools. And, of course, they are being raised with a love and respect for God and Country, rather than for secular humanism and statism.
Seriously, no liberals would be a vacation for the locals as well!

Yeah but that info doesn’t help when you are in high school!- if I recall she has always had that last week or two when a sibling had finished up...... so it has to feel like she has more school than they do! And doesn’t she return in Jan before the other two had to return to college?

i take my hat off to homeschoolers. i think they truly provide the BEST education for their kids, and homeschooled kids are very lucky, for the most part. in our house with the personalities involved it would have been destructive to our relationships. xsjr is learning disabled and requires a great deal of extra help and even that puts stress on our relationships. not conducive to learning when you are being taught through clenched teeth!

I don’t buy that excuse from the professional educators. Teaching so that the students can pass the tests is the *minimum* they should be doing.
Had the industry performed with a bit of sense for teaching the basics instead of the latest fad in ed school, they wouldn’t be in the situation they are.

Our daughter is giving up teaching for now. She just can't take the little brats anymore. Her new hubby got another job in Kansas, so they will be moving in June.

I don’t view it as an excuse by the educators - they don’t develop the curriculum, they just deliver it. And it is designed to teach the skills to pass the test - and in case you weren’t aware schools just do the minimum anymore. It’s all they can do because of the idiots who won’t help their kids at home so the curriculum has been dumbed down. Perhaps you haven’t seen in at the elementary level, but it will begin to show in Middle School and will slap you in the face in High School.

my husband is dragging me to a LeAnn Rimes concert tonight. he LURRRRRVS her, RME. oddly enough, it’s going to be at the Howard Theater, which is on the campus of Howard University, an historically black college! my SIL has dared me to scream out HOMEWRECKER from the audience, LOL! so i will be staying at my ofc til the ungodly hour of 5:30 PM until he retrieves me. we drove in together, he dropped me at the ofc so we wouldn’t have two cars here, and xsboy has picked up his sister from school.
