Huh? Zero is still close - at 57.5% compared to Mittens at 38.7. What am I missing? Last I checked (about a month ago) Zero was close to 60%

Those markets are useless as a predictor of outcomes. They just rise or fall with how the ‘winds’ are blowing, or with the poll numbers in general. They were interesting the first year or so.

I don’t place any value on that site either. For one reason, I believe Americans cannot place real money wagers on that site. So the only people putting real money down are non-Americans.

In 2008 I called Obama a one-term wonder who would preside over a sour economy his entire term. Its the economy, stupid. People say he can’t lose to Romney. He isn’t running against Romney. He is running against an economic depression and doesn’t stand a chance of re-election.

Reading your comment suddenly gave me the dreaded “oh noes”. I got a flashback of jimmy carter saying “I’m ok with romney as president”. If democrats and the 5th column and the george soros types decided early on that they had no chance of keeping obama another 4 years, then they would do whatever they could to make the obama replacement as unobjectionable to them as possible.
The republican establishment would also figure it out if obama couldn’t win and their strategy would then change. You and I would think this is our chance to really sock it to them(the democrats) and make america great again. But if I was a republican party loyalist first and an american citizen second, I would only care about getting an “R” in the whitehouse and would go with a completely different strategy. My strategy would become one of hedging and caution. I would want a candidate that would NOT fire up the democrats and drive them to the polls in opposition to the Obama challenger. I would want a candidate who would be boring. I would want a candidate that would make jimmy carter and the rest of the democrat voters say “eh, he’s not THAT bad...he’s better than Bush.”

There is a huge nation outside of Free Republic that does not vote on morals or principal but on self-interest. That self-interest is going to do what they have to do to reclaim a job, or see that the fired husband can get a job, or see they are no longer cowed by annual pink slips, or see that their 28 year old twin sons are in an apartment working instead of living at home.
It is beyond me how we can be in an economic depression, the worst US economic conditions since 1936, and most of Free Republic things these are conditions an incumbent politician can survive. I’m baffled by their thinking.
People want anybody who will promise them a job opportunity. Yes, this will be against all the people who want anybody that will give them free stuff, but we’ve been fighting against them for decades. This year, the people who want a job or want to be secure in a job, are the ones calling the shots.
After 4 years under Romney, maybe not so much.
We are on the same page. Now we just have to push that idiot Romney to sign the Obamacare repeal, to get drilling for oil, and to decommission the TSA and strangle the EPA.
We are going to be in the fight of our lives just to push our conservative demands through Romney and the liberal GOP leadership.
One word: fear.
Obama has violated so many of our nation's established traditions and protocols, and has assumed (and executed) so much unauthorized authority over every aspect of our government, that many people have simply been pummeled into believing that he's capable of anything - including casting aside the US Constitution, and declaring himself Dictator For Life.

for those of you that are still doubters...you’d best start watching what’s going on. This tumble to oblivion does not appear to be temporary. It is steady and persistent and regular. I do not think this is a blip.

My ignorant opinion is he is headed for 40% and once he gets there he will never see 50% again and will lose the election in an embarrassing loss.
I've thought for a long time, that the real election would be the Republican primary, and that whoever prevailed in that, would become the next president without question.
Obama has committed more egregious transgressions and errors in his term in office, than any president I've seen (or even imagined) in my lifetime. There isn't another president who comes close to his level of abject incompetence, mixed with illusions of grandeur and power, in our entire history. He's not just a personal failure, he's the American people's failure.
And what a monstrous failure it's been. His awful polling numbers reflect that. We're not the only ones who are aware of what a complete disaster this guy's been. He's hopelessly lost a great many of those who got caught up in the history of electing him president, and has no possible chance of getting them back, now that he's destroyed so much of the basic economics they rely on.
Frankly, I don't think Mittens has to do much of anything to take the White House this November. He may not win in a landslide, but it's looking more and more like he'll beat Obama handily. That's how unbelievably rotten Obama is.
It’ll probably be closer than that, but then again Zero’s gangs of cheaters have never had to face the Romney machine, or any other meaningful opposition. I mean, seriously, just put a D after your name and TRY not to get elected in Illinois.

I’ve been watching now for almost 2 months, and I agree with you. This is new territory on the downside, and it’s unmistakable.
Funny thing I’ve noticed is, even though the trend is clearly down, it seems like someone is trying to manipulate the price. The price will spike up, then once is starts to lose lift, drop back down. It almost seems like someone is trying to create the appearance of market strength, but then get back out of the position before they lose money.
Leaving the price each time after that cycle, a bit lower than the time before.
Right now it’s at 56 even, which is down almost a full point today alone.

I don't think your opinion is ignorant at all. At this point in the race, Obama should be doing far better than he is. Even the much hated Jimmy Carter had a much better approval rating in the summer leading up to the 1980 vote.
If the Repubics were running a beloved and respected conservative right now, Obama's numbers would be even worse. I believe that Mittens will become the next president by default, only because people perceive that he's not as bad as Obama.
A lot of Americans will be willing to vote for a turd sandwich, if it means getting rid of Obama.
The Democrats have never had a crisis quite like this before. In LBJ's time, he and his advisors understood that he didn't stand a chance of re-election, and so he bowed out early enough for others to mount serious campaigns against the Republicans. The fact that Team Obama are going forward, despite the horrifying poll numbers, just shows you how sick in the heads they are.
