Bishop was the straight man for the gags and ‘jokes’. He had a comedians sense of perfect timing so the ‘Chairman of the Board’ always knew when he cracked wise Bishop would do the perfect setup or followup. Also Bishop was a really intelligent and level headed person who seemed to be the ‘adult’ in the Animal House with a smooth personality that never rubbed the inflated egos the wrong way.He also would put up with Sinatra's black moods and evil behavior with aplomb.

Bishop was interviewed by Brian Williams on MSNBC (when they had viewers) after Sinatra died. Williams implied the Rat Pack was racist and Bishop ripped him a new one. It was worth watching.

Thanks for the info on Bishop. All that effortless "cutting up" takes a lot work.

As a little kid watching cartoons, I saw Peter Lawford in a low-budget commercial for Brach's chocolates--I think it was near Valentine's Day. I remember my mother gasped to see how far he had fallen.
