A Prius driver who was using his cell phone to record footage of a pack of motorcyclists veered into them Sunday morning, prompting some of the bikers to beat him up on a San Mateo County freeway, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The incident unfolded just after 8 a.m. as several motorcycle clubs cruised on Harley-Davidsons and other bikes in the fast lane of northbound Highway 101 near Belmont, between Ralston Avenue and West Hillsdale Boulevard. [snip]
My local gas jumped to $4.45 a gallon, I drive a Silverado dually with a discontinued gas guzzling but god its so wonderful of a gas engine the 8.1 Vortec.
So starting last week I was riding to work on my 2009 Star 1300 Tourer, of which I have less than 2000 miles on it since I bought it new off the showroom floor, a combination of bad Alaska weather and being elsewhere limits my riding.
But anyway the bike gets 50mpg and loves cruising with its tall gears, but still its like being invisible, one driver actually looked me right in the eye and darted right in front of me.
I wonder if its just possible that many people are even more angry at bikers because they are the final insult to the socialistic promised utopia?
I would sell a kidney to see Obama on a Harley riding with the peasants. I saw Sarah Palin riding once.
Oh and just to blow some snot in the lefts morning breakfast I would like to form a “Birther Bikers Club”.
See which can be louder our exhaust pipes or their heads exploding.
People who drive a Prius are largely idiots.
It was a righteous beat down and a great example of not being able to prioritize keeping your car on the road against certain activities.
Over drove his skills.
Drifts into lane, over corrects, hits a bike, bounces off the concrete median, hits another bike. All kinds of stoopit.
Doesn’t a Harley get better highway mpg than a Prius?
Plus, it uses very little toxic material that will later sit in a junkyard. Compare that to the huge battery and exotic materials that go into a Prius.
How much trouble does the loose gravel on the road following breakup cause you?
I always wondered about that with motorcycles and Alaska.
I don’t know about the other brands but my big bike the Star 1300cc v twin gets over 50mpg when I cruise. Its fuel injected, my two other smaller older carb fed Hondas which are 500 and 650cc cannot get quite that good.
What is really cool is looking at the fuel mileage of the latest built mostly by hand is the diesel bikes.
Ride you big diesel cruiser with its loud exhaust, it smells like bacon and gets well over 100mpg.
Its really quite an issue, I wait a couple of weeks after breakup so most of the winter accumulations of sand and salt are off the roads. I started just last friday, and its still below freezing in the morning so I wear a pair of insulated coveralls going to work. We had a late breakup due to a record snowfall year.
The roads in Alaska from what I have seen has about double the riders that I usually see during the summer, and thats commuters not the weekend cruisers. Our gas is $4.45 a gallon.
Feel good story of the day, I’m happy the two bikers didn’t die at the hands of the “distracted” idjit.
His attitude adjustment sounds well deserved. Instant justice was had by all.
Even my Road Glide, with TWO bright headlights, isn’t immune from jerks pulling out in front, requiring quick braking and quicker handling to avoid a collision.

All that doesn’t matter to the Prius driver.
Bikes are politically incorrect, and political correctness doesn’t depend on reason or facts.
People like that hate bikers because they think they are dirty criminals (i.e. Hell’s Angels types), they hate the noise and/or speed, they hate the idea of pleasure cruising, and they hate the fact that very few bikers are liberals.
Most of all, they hate freedom.
This 19 year old kid was probably just awed by the large group of bikers and wanted to record it. I don’t see how the fact he was driving a Prius has anything to do with it. Some of those bikers might own a Prius. In fact my neighber who used to ride a Super Glide with “loud pipes” owns a Prius.
My wife hates my constant use of my horn at the number of drivers who drift into my lane while on the phone.
Well, if he was just beaten and not actually stabbed, I think the cops should call this one even.

I always use my horn to alert the stupid drivers. Drift in to my lane I honk, cut me off, I honk..
I did ask my wife once “should I just pull out a gun and shoot um?”
Because anyone who drives a Prius is an idiot.
When my wife an I ride alone we encounter many cage drivers that get as close as possible to try and intimidate or scare us. Never happens when we are group riding.
