Poor article. A lot of words but it never touches on the expansion of the Android OS (and therefore Chrome browser) smartphones and tablets. How much of the expansion was from that as opposed to installing new browsers on PCs?

I find this report highly suspect. NO ONE that I know personally uses Google Chrome. A few of my users do, because a site they visit asks for it. And it causes problems with our other software.

I tried it and didn't like it either. I had to have my husband remove it from my computer. I started having a lot of sex sites showing up and the last straw was walking into my downstairs from the garage, looking at the computer sitting in the room and seeing a completely naked woman on my screen with a background that I had chosen from Chrome. That was when I told hubby to get it off my machine.

The last time I tried to buy a gift cerificate from Amazon for my daughter to download tunes, they insisted I do it via Chrome. I refused.

On Athlon XP’s and vanilla Pentiums, Chrome is a major resource hog. I suspect a lot of the users are from the Android platform.

Prefer Firefox myself, even on Android phone and tablet.

Chrome is not bad; it’s my second favorite browser. My favorite is IE9, though. Less buggy, better user interface.

Firefox is just awful. Several gigabytes of RAM for a glorified help file viewer? Really? Firefox has become the same kind of horrible bloatware that Mozilla and Netscape had become, and that Firefox originally set out to avoid. Just dump it.

Chrome brings up that stupid "Aw snap!" graphic with the dead box all too frequently.

Firefox gives me the lowest frequency of that type of crap possibly because they concentrated on building a great browser rather than trying to drive you to websites which promote a lefty worldview or line their pockets.

At one time, there was a great little browser called Opera, but haven't seen it lately. Anybody know what happened to them?

In my opinion Opera is the best browser. I’ve used it almost exclusively for about 10 years now. Tried all the others, Chrome constantly crashes, Firefox is a memory hog and just feels clunky, Safari is slow for me and IE is... well, IE.

Opera seems faster and never crashes.

OK. I love IE. I love Microsoft products...all of them. They alow me, the incompetent user to do things I could never do otherwise.

I tried Chrome and was not impressed. IE is impossibly slow and I’m not the only one to notice. I have installed FireFox for a number of people and all noticed a marked improved over IE.

Agreed, as i often have about 60 tabs open, being able to have multiple tabs rows, and reduce the width, both of which the TabMixPlus extension allows, and more, is a big help, thanks be to God for those make such.

Couple this with the NOIA theme (which under Windows allows you to change the color), anf the Colrfuil themes extension, and i can have about 18 identifiable tabs in each row.

Also of note to FR FF users, if you select text and r. clk and choose view selection source, and copy it (wait a big for it to be selected) then you can past it in the post box add it will show up as copied.

IE is kinda like government issue/socialism, with almost no customization allowed, and Chrome is better but still lacks (and many have called for multiple tabs rows, to no avail).

But for light browsing they will do.

Below is a list of Ff extensions i have found useful:
