Reminds of the crap capacitors in LCD TVs. A few manufacturers got burned on that one (and plenty of consumers). Company I work for had a batch of control modules go to crap. Turns out it’s $00.69 part. I’ll bet anything it was Chinese.

The Air France plane crashed because the pilots flew it into a thunderstorm and then misunderstood what was happening and stalled the aircraft until it crashed. Maybe they were Chinese. Who knows?

I recall Alaska Airlines flight 261 (McDonnell Douglas MD-83) in January 2000. The part that failed and caused the airliner to crash off the coast of Southern California was the horizontal stabilizer. There were reports that the part was made in China.

There are numerous articles that say China is the source. Several point to a US News & World Report 2/21/2000 article but I have been unable to get to the article.
