Good starting list for freepers wondering where to send their high school graduates or soon-to-be graduates. You probably can't go wrong with anything in the top 25 or 30.

There is no way that the Air Force Academy is more conservative than Texas Tech. No freaking way.

The township and borough of Princeton are like most university towns, very liberal, voting about 80% Democrat.

I drove behind the quintessential Princeton car today, festooned with liberal bumper stickers including a local one, Save the Dinky (a spur railroad to the main line).

If Princeton students are conservative, it’s a relative thing or they are swimming against the tide.

Don't know about the latter, but Stanford is no bastion of conservatives or conservatism. There are conservative scholars at the Hoover Institution, but the rest of the university is pretty typical of American academia (i.e., mostly liberal-left). That's not to say that there aren't a fair number of conservatives in the student body, but probably not significantly more than you'll find at similar elite universities (Harvard, Yale, etc.).

My daughter is interested in Grove City, but because they take no Government money we’d have to foot the whole bill. Not that that’s bad. She may be able to secure some private scholarships, she’s an excellent student. And as a private school it has an excellent price tag, keeping Government out of the way helps a school keep it’s values and the cost down. We’ve got a few years to save up.

With all due respect to Princeton and the Princeton Review, the very first thing I do when I come across lists, reviews, polls, commentary is research who is responsible for the product.

In my estimation Princeton and Princeton Review are just another in a long line of liberal institutions.

While this list may have conservative schools on it, it is by no means all-inclusive, nor necessarily correct.

I'm not sure of the policy at GCC, but Hillsdale (#1) has a similar policy and you can take out loans with their own approved group of lenders. These lenders actually beat government loan rates in some cases because Hillsdale graduates actually learn useful, marketable skills and are in demand. Accordingly, their default rate is very low and so are their interest rates.

GCC may already have a similar arrangement in place. I've heard some of the more conservative colleges are considering such an arrangement. Successful alumni actually contribute to a sort of perpetual education fund which new graduates pay back and even help grow a little.

It would be an excellent idea for every conservative college to do this and eventually leave the government program holding the bag for the ethnic/gender studies majors and those of similar ilk who can default and bankrupt it more quickly.

Anyway, your daughter should get a hold of an admissions counselor at GCC and tell them she is considering Hillsdale and a couple of other colleges in the top 25. I'm sure they will be glad to tell her how it works.
