Revealing: A list of keywords used by government analysts to scour the internet for evidence of threats to the U.S. has been released under the Freedom of Information Act
The Department of Homeland Security has been forced to release a list of keywords and phrases it uses to monitor social networking sites and online media for signs of terrorist or other threats against the U.S.
The intriguing the list includes obvious choices such as 'attack', 'Al Qaeda', 'terrorism' and 'dirty bomb' alongside dozens of seemingly innocent words like 'pork', 'cloud', 'team' and 'Mexico'.
Released under a freedom of information request, the information sheds new light on how government analysts are instructed to patrol the internet searching for domestic and external threats.
The words are included in the department's 2011 'Analyst's Desktop Binder' used by workers at their National Operations Center which instructs workers to identify 'media reports that reflect adversely on DHS and response activities'.

I didn’t see “meathead” on the list.

Come and get me, feds!
The other day I went to target to buy some crest when I heard a warning on the radio about an extreme weather watch causing some erosion resulting in a mud slide flood along the interstate that might result in closure, I had a burst of relief when I leaned Emergency Broadcast System was just conducting test.
I want to exercise, but the lack of initiative is always a threat. I strain to recall any time I was resistant to the relief of not exercising, which I have cancelled quite often lately, which, if I want to avoid obesity, is not very smart. I need to buddy up with a gang of people, including my friends on social media, that I might be enriched with help, lest my efforts go bust.
Not only these previous threads but one on FR several months ago.
Stupid list is stupid.
Context rules. You can say “shoot”, as in, “I’m going to shoot some video” but don’t say, “I’m going to shoot the [insert name of political figure here].
If someone took this list seriously, paranoia would rule their life.
Then again, if you really ARE up to something, this may be a helpful list. I also use the word “pr0n” just in case someone at my workplace is hypersensitive.
Attak Al Qaeda with pork from Mexico.
And phrases such as “I believe in the constitution” “I believe in the free market” “I hate communism”..Write those 3 things and watch as your hard drive suddenly goes crazy and you lose control of yur kyboard nhg wjh oh dmn!mj@#khb nhjooo##%%%%
The way I figure it I'm not doing anything sneaky, everything I do and say is right in front of God and everybody else. When they try to silence or censor me I just get that much more determined.
This morning there wasn’t a cloud in the sky as we crossed the bridge and went to Subway after that computer virus caused my hard drive to crash and burn, and when Joe had to take a leak, there were no facilities, so he asked the cops where we could stop to avoid an incident, but the gas station he sent us to was Filthy and toxic like something you’d see in Tijuana, so we went home instead.
13!
I hear the Pittsburgh Pirates are trying to sign some outfielder from Sonora, Mexico who can really hit the long bomb. It would give fans at PNC Park something to do other than The Wave and consuming various pork products. An explosive Pirate attack would be like the assassination they used to deliver opposing pitchers in the 70’s. I hear his agent is a real blister though, so it may not happen.
It IS interesting that practically anything with reference to "our neighbor to the south" will earn a hit.
Bloomberg has devices installed at the NYC EOC that listen to all broadcasts, detect politically sensitive verbage such as the word “bloomberg”, record it, and report it to Blooberg’s office.
