Faulty Thinking
June 1, 2012

Four people—a pilot, a professor, a pastor, and a hiker—were flying in a small plane when the engines died. The pilot said, “There are only three parachutes. Since this is my plane, I’m taking one of them.” He put it on and jumped out. The professor said, “I’m brilliant and the world needs me, so I’m taking a parachute,” and he jumped out.

Then the pastor told the hiker, “I don’t want to be selfish, so you take the last parachute.” The hiker replied, “There are still two left, so we can each have one. The professor jumped out with my backpack instead of the parachute!” Though the professor thought he would land safely, his assurance was based on faulty thinking.

Some people have an assurance of salvation based on faulty thinking. They believe that church attendance, baptism, or just being good will gain them approval from God. But our thinking is faulty if it isn’t based on what God says in His Word. God says that “all have sinned” and that we are His enemies. But through the death and resurrection of His Son, we can be made right with God (Rom. 3:23; 5:8-10). By faith in what Christ has done, we can have peace with God (5:1) and the assurance of eternal life in heaven.

Do you believe it? Your eternity is at stake. Don’t trust faulty thinking but put your faith in Christ.

Thank you for this lovely Pledge of Allegiance starting
a new month. The days are flying by very fast!! Its
pouring rain today here in Tennessee! I managed to get
my trash can down before it rained. My neighbor usually
does that for me but they are out of town for a couple
of weeks!

After we accept Christ and really mean it, we are to have a change in how we think, what we do, and we are to spend time in the word of God, in which He tells us about himself.

Jesus said, “the Father is greater than I”. We are ever to grow more into the image of Jesus. Which means we live a changed life. The Holy Spirit is in us. If we really meant it when we accepted Jesus as our redeemer and savior we will want to have a changed life, to become like Jesus on earth. Of course, we will not be able to do this completely, but the Word tells us how to go about it. Daily, Love God, love our fellow man, and follow His commands.

They were so young then! I’ve had that one in my files a
long time and it wasn’t with most of the graphics I have
for Red Friday. I should change it sometimes I guess. At

Hello God, I called tonight to talk a little while

I need a friend who'll listen to my anxiety and trial.

You see, I can't quite make it through a day just on my own

I need your love to guide me, so I'll never feel alone.

I want to ask you please to keep my family safe and sound.

Come fill their lives with confidence for whatever fate they're bound.

Give me faith, dear God, to face each hour throughout the day,

And not to worry over things I can't change any way.

I thank you God, for being home and listening to my call;

for giving me such good advice when I stumble and I fall.

Your number, God, is the only one that answers every time.

I never get a busy signal, never have to pay a dime.

So thank you, God, for listening to my troubles and my sorrow.
