Ping to the Auburn list.
The Montgomery mayor just came out to update WSFA. They think there is one person in the house, but they’re not sure. They’ve used tear gas and have sealed off points of exit. Basically the police are hunkering down for a long wait. Rain is imminent, too.
Special ping to you because I know how much you like car chases. This is much more fun! /teasing you
The cops should pretend he’s a Branch Davidian and fire bomb the house. Children inside? NO PROBLEM!
Calling Sharpton and Jackson! You KNOW at least one of those cops is white.
True dat about the cops, but this was a black on black crime. And he has pissed off this state.
There are no children in the house and the police don’t think there is anyone else other than this one person. They’ve used two deployments of tear gas and still he hasn’t come out. They’ve inserted cameras (how? I do not know.) into the house and they haven’t seen anyone. The person is coughing and in the attic.
Just recently here in Auburn there was a random shooter. The police waited him out over 12 hours and took him without loss of life. This particular perp didn’t hit anyone when he shot but he did make “terrorist threats.”
WAR EAGLE!! Please add me to your Auburn War Eagle! ping list. :0
You’ll be added just as soon as maybe.
i was working in st.petersburg,fl last year and a guy shot
two cops, was holed up in a house and they just bulldozed
the whole house with him in it.
They’ve cleared the bottom two floors. Whoever is there is in the attic. They’ve tried inducing him to leave using chemical means. They’re hearing coughing and movement and see thermal images that someone is in the attic. The police are being very careful in stating that they’re not 100% sure it is Leonard, but they think it is. “time is on our side.” The police are being very careful.
You’re on the list.
Those cameras are a flexible shaft type that they insert through small holes.
They could also be using IR
Thank you!! :0
The spokesman just said they don’t want to put a hole in the attic. I think I heard them they’re sending a tactical team up into the attic. Prayers for those brave people going into harms way.
When/if they get him, he’ll immediately be turned over to Auburn and he’ll come here.
They’re trying to negotiate with him and command him to come out. The perp is not responding. Thermal imaging cameras have shown a mammal to be up there. Indications are that it is a person.
It is amazing what is going on. I am so angry. I want him taken alive and then fall down a lot in custody.
From what I understand, he broke into this house. The owner is one of the people who called the police to let them know an intruder was in the house.
The tactical team is going up the retractable stairs into the attic. Prayers!
There is activity in and around the house. But we don’t think they have the perp yet.
The mayor of Montgomery, Todd Strange, is giving an update.
No verbal or visual dcontact with whatever is up there.
They are going through the attic, slowly, because the individual is small and could hide under the batting. Thermal imaging gives an indication that he is there.
Thanks for the play by play!
Apparently they are physically in the attic and are searching in a specific area of the attic.
There is about 15 minutes before a very serious storm arrives.
You’re welcome. The police affirmed that the person is alive. Leonard is only 5’4” tall and very thin.
They feel sure it is a human because of the thermal imaging and the microphones revealing human breathing.
right now the US Marshalls have taken over that search. The police are highly protected with equipment and gas masks.
The police are using a pole that is a tool for ripping sheet rock. Apparently, they are also ripping the ceiling and floor out from under him.
Poor homeowner. I’d be so mad (at Leonard).
US Marshals?!!! So this guy is a fugitive?
Anyone know where in East Montgomery?
Major fugitive. Auburn police, Montgomery police, alabama bureau of investigation, FBI, both counties police, Montgomery fire department (because of the smoke and tear gas) are all on the scene.
WE WANT THIS GUY!!!!!
Outside of the bulevard. Look at wsfa.com and there is a map there, I think.
It just started raining at the house with lightning. We’ll be losing the live pictures and the news people will be phoning it in.
Many people here in Auburn, like me, are VERY ANGRY.
SE MGM.
A tweeter just reported “Someone closed the garage. Opened it. Then closed it again!!! Now it’s opened. What’s going on #auburnshooting”
Their guess is as good as mine.
I see. I looked at google maps...it shows no houses...must be newer than the satelitte shot. I’ve never been down that way near Youngs Farms.
That’s funny, I count 30 houses in that neighborhood...
I’m not familiar with that part of Montgomery at all.
Hmmm...when I zoom all the way in I see them now.
Still, I assume they are fairly new.
Yep, they all look pretty new...
Was that the end of the live feed?
It’s back...
I had a house on Wanda Court, within a mile or so of this site. Mixed family neighborhood not a slum area.
Thanks, Jem.
Good gravy. It was more than an hour ago when you posted that.
I think I've figured out their plan. They're holding off until he dies of old age.
We’re not seeing live pictures over the TV. Basically, there isn’t anything specific to report. The reporter just said she has seen no indication that the search is over. Oy vay!
You’re welcome. I’m mesmerized by this.
What are the Marshals going to have to do... pull pieces of the ceiling down to get this guy out?
LOL! I think they’re trying not to rip apart the house in the search for him and take him alive. Throw into the mix a severe storm with lots of lightning and 60 to 70 mph winds and that is what is going on.
Actually, now that I look at the WSFA map, I was about three miles from the area. My son lives closer, further East of the area.
I think they’ve begun to do just that.
Todd Strange, mayor of Montgomery, is going to give an update at 11:00.
FWIW, the storm is here in Auburn, too. If it escalates, I’ll have to move to a safer place.
The reporter just said that she thinks “something” has transpired within the house.
The scene has changed. More movement. Lots of light.
