I originally posted this story when it was published four years ago, which puts us 2-1/2 years past the predicted doom-date.

Can anyone document the implementation of his £15 billion annual programme ... to halt deforestation?

IOW, Prince Charles has officially joined the ranks of the rest of the environmental whack-jobs whose dire predictions of doom and gloom have not come to pass...but get a pass from the press.

I like the Royal family, can't really say why in only a few words and I don't feel like writing a history of England here, BUT if Charlie needs so much cash to save the world, just how much does his family spend in tax dollars each year and how much are their properties worth? As someone who is a loyal subject of the Queen of Canada, I really, really, hope he chooses to skip a generation and pass the Crown to William. My fear is that Charles will be such a disaster that we ditch the monarchy, which has served us well, and replace it with something far worse. To paraphrase Churchill, a Parliamentary Monarchy is the worst system except for all the others.

Last thursday, the wife and I returned to the States from three weeks in Britain. We had some real nice days starting out, but after that much of the time it was bloody cold. 50-55 degrees Fahrenheit for a high a number of days and rain. But the month prior to our arrival was even worse according to my in-laws. All the Brits who would like a colder U.K. please raise your hands.
