The electricity would be at the sewage plant of the city...they move all of the sewage with large pumps, so if they go down, you back up. I have well water and septic, so I can weather that storm.

“You’d have to come out eventually.”

You have to understand the mindset. The folks who get these things believe that there will be some sort of “cleansing event” and that the bunker will insulate them from the harsh transition.

The thinking is that the year or so gives plenty of time for the “die-off” to occur, and they’ll emerge in a much less daunting world.

Maybe they are crazy, but to them, having the option is better than not having the option. There are obvious issues to contend with - including psychological ones that would crop up over time.

The point is that it IS possible to build a multi-hazard cocoon within which you can be protected from whatever you are worried about. It can be done clandestinely, if you are clever and you need not be helpless in the event that someone finds your “bunker”.

Anthony Fremont takes exception to that. You'd better think good thoughts or you'll end up in the cornfield.

As I said, Burgess Meredith had very thick glasses because he was basically blind.

He was on the steps of the library and was surrounded by books that he’d stacked up. He was anticipating all the great reading he would do.

He knocked the glasses off his face and they shattered.

He was a blind man surrounded by the love of his life-—books.

Poor guy.

Speaking of “bunker mentality”: The powers that be who are bringing all this on must think themselves immune to it all.

They have good reason to think themselves immune.

Those photos are from the best Twilight Zone episode ever filmed, IMHO.

It's your opinion, and you are welcome to it. My fave depends on my mood, but as a sometime aircraft mechanic....
