A police dog serving with a North Carolina police department had its ear bitten by a suspect when officers were serving a warrant, authorities said.
Maxx, 2, the rookie K-9 worth about $15,000 and considered a law enforcement agent under state law, had to be rushed to a veterinarians office Sunday and given more than a dozen stitches after a run in with a man who nearly bit the dog's ear in two, Lucy Crockett, the public information officer for the Wilmington Police Department, said.

If what the suspect says is true ... namely that he was unaware the police were attempting to arrest him and that the first he knew of the dog was when it bit him then I side with the suspect... and the police should be damn glad it wasn’t me because I would have gone for the eyes and throat.
Man bites dog.
When men are outlawed, only outlaw dogs will have men.
I didn’t get that from the story.
He said he was unaware the dog was behind him.
Reads like he was running from the law and they set the dog free to run him down.
And like all perps “Why you arresting me? I didn’t do nothing!”
“I ain’t never been bit by a dog or nothing”?
Does that qualify as a triple negative?

He deserves at least one houndred days in jail.
Thanks Darksheare, I’ve waited over twenty years to steal that joke.
*Snorkle chortle*!
It’s always real suspicious when the police don’t list a charge or cause of action in a news report ... for all I know he could have lost his job and fallen behind on child support or something where he wouldn’t expect a “takedown” ... he doesn’t “look” like a thug ... the only charges listed in the news report are the ones related to defending himself from the dog... I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt.
Well, right up front the story says they were serving a warrant........
And then at the end it says he faces a number of charges in addition to the two that seem to relate to the dog and his arrest.
I think the story should have listed all the charges - so as not to leave the reading hanging - so to say.
LOL!
