WBO says Pacquiao won over Bradley

MANILA, Philippines — World boxing icon Manny Pacquiao won over Timothy Bradley in their fight for the World Boxing Organization welterweight crown, said a five-man panel of the WBO.

Upon its review, the WBO panel re-scored the controversial Timothy Bradley split-decision win over Pacquiao and had it 118-110, 117-111, 117-111, 116-112, 115-113 for the Filipino ring icon.

The fight’s official result, however, still stands, according to WBO president Francisco Valcarcel.

“We can’t change the result but we did this review for two reasons,” Valcarcel told ESPN.com.

“If they want to make a rematch, we will approve the rematch and if they don’t we will order one. Also, we wanted to show (the Nevada State Athletic Commission) that they could bring in other officials from outside of Nevada who can also do a fine job judging fights. It’s good to have different officials.”

Both fighters are said to be scheduled for a do over on November 10.

CJ Roth and Duane Ford, two of the three judges during the June 9 (June 10 in Manila) fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, scored it 115-113 for Bradley while Jerry Roth saw Pacquiao as the victor, 115-113.

Pacquiao had his 15 fight winning streak snapped. The loss was his first since Mexican legend Erik Morales beat him via unanimous decision back in 2005.

“We can’t change the result ...,” Valcarcel told ESPN.com.

Worst decision in the history of boxing and they can't overturn it.

Vince McMahon needs to buy pro boxing and make it a division of WWE, in order to bring some badly needed legitimacy to the fight game. Let’s be honest…Don King was born to be a WWE manager anyway.

The scum ball agent who manages both fighters should not be allowed to profit from the rematch. All proceeds after the fighters have been paid should go to charity. That might cure the rotten “rematch” scam prevalent in boxing.

The whole thing stinks and reeks of SET UP! Especially when you consider that Timothy Bradley tweeted this poster BEFORE they even fought!

It is hard for me to go back to watching boxing after watching a lot of Mixed Martial Arts fighting.

I grew up in the era of Tyson - boxing was BIG, and I was a fan.

Now boxing just looks stupid to me.

It would be interesting to see a demographic analysis of the people who pay to watch professional boxing.

I paid to watch professional boxing before it was so obviously fixed.

My dad took me to see Hagler vs. Leonard on closed circuit when I was a kid. Great fight! Would I pay to see a fight today? Not a chance.

It was not a close fight. Bradlley won 2 maybe 3 rounds at most. Pacquiao hurt Bradley a few times and landed way more punches. The decision was a joke. And btw, the reason Bradley sprained his ankle was a Pacquiao straight left put Bradley on queer street and his legs were wobbling like they were made of rubber. I’ll give Bradley this though, he hung tough and displayed a pretty good knack for taking a beating without quitting.

When questioned today, CJ Roth and Duane Ford, as they stood in a line to file for unemployment, having been fired from their jobs as boxing judges and obviously blind to their actions, asked, ‘What did we do? What did we do?’

You done bad.

***Same here.

I do think technology can improve this situation, if the PTBs will allow it. By putting sensors into the gloves, the force of each blow can be measured, and judges would be able to take that into account. There would be very few split decisions with that kind of instant data available.

If Pacquiao fights again, he should just steer clear of Las Vegas - built by mobsters, controlled by mobsters, and it’s STILL crooked!!

There’s lots of other world cities that would love to have a title fight, and can provide honest judges and a fair fight.

Vegas can go to hell. Enough is enough.
