Pawlenty? Just my opinion ...

Posted on 06/21/2012 9:10:10 AM PDT by Why So Serious

I have said here before that candidates have to "inspire" voters. Kennedy, Reagan, Clinton, Obama all "inspired" voters. Now I will give you that the top of the ticket should be the inspiration. However, when the top of the ticket fails to inspire [ala McCain], the second person needs to bring some inspiration. Voters need to really love or hate a candidate to get up and vote. "Liking" a candidate is bad. I LOVED Reagan, I HATED Clinton and Obama. I had passion when I voted in those elections. I have never missed an election. But, what about others? I don't get the sense that people are inspired by Romney and that Rubio would add some of the inspiration. I don't get that feeling about Pawlenty. Picking Pawlenty is like picking Biden. He was the second loser in the primary. Is it me, or are other feeling the same way?

Tell me, Rubio, Kasich, and you have my attention.

Tim has already said that he’s not interested.

Agree totally. It had better be Rubio or Ryan IMO.

Pawlenty wouldn’t be my choice, but I’d prefer him to Rubio. At least if Romney becomes president and drops dead, Pawlenty is actually qualified and has run something before so I would be confident he would at least have some idea of what he is doing.

Rubio needs a lot more experience, preferably as governor, before he can be considered as a heartbeat away from the presidency.

Agree with your analysis.

if you want juice, it’s Sarah. Forget taking rubio, portman, etc from their day jobs. The candidates are...pawlenty/Sarah/Santorum. I doubt obamney takes Sarah and it looks like rino/rino ticket. If obamney has a brain, he should call Sarah !

Just SAYING the name Tim Pawlenty puts me to sleep. Sorry. I think Rand Paul would be an amazing choice.

Pawlenty is very boring, maybe not a disqualifier but he is.

I have this sinking feeling Romney may be on the verge of screwing this thing up big-time. Right now he is on a roll. Things are looking awfully good. A lot of people are beginning to come around. People who were not too inspired by Romney during the primaries. He should keep the VP thing a secret for as long as possible. Until just a few yrs ago the VP was never announced until during the convention itself. Once the name of the person is released, the media will have a field day tearing the person apart. Doing the Quayle-Palin thing. His poll numbers will go down. As soon as that happens, the media will delcare it’s all over. A lot of fence-sitting voters will believe that to be the case, and will lose interest.

If he wants to go the social conservative specialist route, he will pick Huckabee, not Santorum. He won’t pick Sarah unless he falls way behind in the polls. She is to controversal. My bet is Huck, Pawlenty, or some other boring candidate... or he might double down on Mormonism and pick Huntsman.

Ugh—Rubio is an amnesty-activist, Bush family property, RINO opportunist who left some shady dealings behind in the FL White House and who has significantly less experience than Obama did in 2008.

Milquetoast TPaw is better than that.

I think the final decisive battleground this election is going to be Iowa/Wisconsin/Michigan. It would be a plus if the Veep nominee came from that area. Maybe Paul Ryan?

I really think it should be Santorum. Sure some of you don’t seem to like him....to conservative and moral (such a sin for some of you), but a lot of people in the United States liked him and he won 11 states before suspending his campaign. He came in second is a good many of those states and he brought in a lot of enthusiasm. Now for him to accept a RINO Romney ticket would be disappointing but I would understand him doing so. I could vote for Romney this way only and hope he resigns ten minutes after the swearing in. Santorum will be President in 2016 if Romney does not win.

When Romney wins it would good to have Ryan in the house. But I do agree he is capable. That man needs to stay right there for now.

Okay, I did not consider that point. I was looking more at electability. In that case i would still rather have Kasich. Gov, experience in Washington, and better personality. IMHO!

Sarah! You are talking dirty to me! I would love Palin back on the ticket, but it will not happen.

Santorum just does not do it for me, either.

I still say he looks too much like Woody from Toy Story

Which is why putting Palin on the ticket would be a winning move. After all she's already been sliced, diced and shredded!

When the country is in a slump, you don't run a ticket with "undertaker" personalities. You bring in motivators and that is exactly what Palin is!!!

She won’t be picked for VP second time around. I think she’d make a heck of an Energy Secretary.

They have to fill the wimp quota somehow, especially now that Daniels is out:

Romney will probably go with someone whose record is acceptable to social conservatives but who isn't primarily known as a social conservative. Maybe Portman qualifies. Santorum doesn't.
