Manny Pacquiao wins WBO after defeat by Timothy Bradley
BBC ^ | 06/22/2012

On the night two judges scored the bout 115-113 in the American's favour, prompting boos around the MGM Grand. The WBO has now met with five international judges to evaluate a video of the fight and they unanimously scored it in favour of Pacquiao.

The original result still stands as the WBO does not have to power to overturn it, but a rematch could be ordered. It was a first defeat in seven years for Philippines fighter Pacquiao, who landed 94 more punches than Bradley.

Pacquiao is already guaranteed a rematch because of a clause in his contract.

According to Bob Arum, the promoter for both fighters, 33-year-old Pacquiao has indicated he would prefer the rematch over Bradley forfeiting the WBO welterweight title.

EXCERPT:

the WBO’s special five-judge panel unanimously scored the fight in Pacquiao’s favor, the eight-division world champion isn’t hooting and hollering about corruption in his sport. He just wants that rematch.

Following the WBO’s video review and the resulting decisions, Pacquiao said he would rather fight Bradley again than be handed the belt without entering the ring because “people may think I just usurped it.”

Bradley’s victory hinged on a pair of 115-113 scorings from Duane Ford and C.J. Ross. Judge Jerry Roth has Pacquiao winning by the same score.

The WBO’s judging panel all had Pacquiao winning — 117-111, 117-111, 118-110, 116-112 and 115-113.

These “judges” would have declared Duk Ku Kim victorious over Ray Mancini

I think the plan is to have Manny have one last big payday in Manila in December and then retire.

He's had a great run but is getting to old and actually he could do more good in the Philippines than in boxing at this point of his career.

Well, I hope it will be Pacquaio vs Mayweather. I’ve been waiting for this for the longest time.

Unfortunately, Mayweather is in jail right now and actually REFUSED a huge offer from the Pacquaio camp prior to that.

We might never see this happen... Mayweather isn’t that young either (he’s 35 (.
