Tis better to remain silent and thought ignorant than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Well you chose to open your mouth against your own advise. You have only yourself to blame.

Nonsense. Show me one example (a website, a policy letter, or anything else), and Ill believe it. Until then, this is just a pipe dream.

[ the article is talking of Americans of Indian origin, not Indians in India ]

There is a saying: It’s the culture stuipid!

It is never about race, but about what culture, the way I see it the “culture” of Indians and Asians is closest to that of the “Greatest Generation” than current american culture is. It is no wonder they are succeeding so well. This is why Jewish and certain Asian cultures prosper so well, it is not because they are “cheating” but because their cultures value hard work and education.

I know of couple of Indian families where there is an overwhelming pressure inthe family for everyone inthe fasmily to get a good education/grades and then go on to get a good money making career like Dentist/Doctor/Banker/Lawyer, etc etc....

You don’t see many Asians, Indians and Americans of Asian/Indian descent getting “Arts and Humanities” degrees so they can slack off in college and booze it up.

Their cultures are very practical when it comes to making sure their children “learn a trade”.

We “Children of the Greatest Generation” have been slacking when it comes to being practical about this sorta thing.

[ All this from running a crappy 7-11 on the corner....? ]

They bust their hump down at the 7-11 working double and triple shifts so that their kid can go to a private school and demoish your kids at the next spelling bee.

Americans used to bust their humps down at the factory to do the same thing for johnny and suzie then the 60’s happened and we got lost somewhere.

[ Only 12% of Indian-American newlyweds between 2008 and 2010 married out of the community

This is because the majority of their marriages are arranged while the children are still young. Sometimes they marry outside of this, but most often it still is arranged. While this seems out of date to us, in a company I worked for I did notice that the majority of Americans were divorced, while the Indians had stong families and seemed perfectly happy. ]

That is because the concept of “Everything has to be a Romantic Fairy Tale” has infected our culture and when something doesn’t go 100% right all of the time it is time to call in the divorace lawyers and start diving up the kid’s time.

This fairy tale treat the women like a princess and the man has to be a royal attendant ALL the time has screwed up a LOT of marriges and I have seen many of my friends hurt becaue of this.

And this is comming from a woman. I grew up on a farm and my mom and dad BOTH WORKED together to provivde and traise a family. My mom was never a “Suburban Pillow Princess” sitting on her arse eating bon-bons and expecting to be treated like a G-D D-mmned Princess all the time and that is why I love my mom so much!

Even after my Dad passed away she still goes out every day and feeds the calves and makes sure the bulls have enough hay and does some chores and she is in her 70’s she is tough ol’ bird and when I am her age I can only hope to be as fulfilled as she is.

Our culture’s affluence is it’s own worst enemy and not for the class warfare reasons the libs love to cite.

By the standards of racial classification, Asian Indians are Caucasians. Many Asian Indians are darker than many African Americans in skin color. Which merely illustrates the idiocy of all so-called “racial” classifications.

And isn’t this amazing right there? So why is the Man only holding down the African-style darker skinned people????????

[ Among Indian Americans aged 25 and older, seven-in-ten (70%) have obtained at least a bachelor’s degree. There is the secret to their success!

The Indians who come over here on H1B are some of their smartest, and their degrees are generally in science or technology, rather than “women’s studies” or other useless areas. ]

NAILED IT!!!

The 60’s poisoning of our education system with it’s offering of “Arts and Humanities” Degrees and Loans for such useless degrees have poisoned us! It used to be only the rich spoiled kids could get the “Artsy fartsy” degrees wich led many a rich kid to blow their inhereted fortunes which made more room at the top for the up and comming hard working practical kids. Now we have poisoned our best and brightest with useless degrees.

[ India, a country with a billion population, managed to get only one medal in the last Olympics. That was in marksmanship. That should tell you something. ]

Yes, it sucks to be China in 10-20 years!

[ I wonder if the arranged marriage is simply a symptom if you will of the cause - parents that plan/coach their children into adulthood. There’s a term for this type of parent that escapes me at the moment, but parents who practice this approach with their children get very good results and close families.

The children grow up feeling that their parents are loving counselors. The level of involvement in schooling and life choices is very high. Compare this to single mother households. Many Indian wives are not particularly well educated and not near as much, but they are practitioners of this kind of child rearing.

Perhaps it could be called traditional families? ]

Yes that, and a good dollop of common sense chil rearing and a lack of the despicable “Dr. Spock” mentality.

well, I grew up in the 90s, but I think America went offline in the 60s. The reason was that in the 50s we still had the greatest generation working hard. And they wanted the best for their children

but at the same time the US was the only economic power around -- the rest of the world was either recovering from WWII or colonialism. This gave a sense of complacency to the 60s generation (and also to union workers etc) who thought they could ask for anything as there was no competition.
