In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of Word for the Day.
Commination
Noun
Comminatory - Adjective
[Middle English comminacioun, from Latin comminti, commintin-, from commintus, past participle of comminr, to threaten : com-, intensive pref.; see com- + minr, to threaten; see menace.]
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

131 Days until the people clean house! Look lively, lots to do until then.
Oh, I thought we were living in a Commie Nation....or would be if his highness had anything to say about it.
Commination is all Obozo has to offer.
I only pray that SCOTUS doesn’t decide that it’s We the People who deserve commination via the ObamaCare ruling. You just can’t depend on these Jurists anymore to follow the Constitution.
Nope, you got it backwards. You can’t do the snip. And for the record, I am appalled that they continue to refer to female GENITAL MUTILATION designed to MAKE SEX AS UNCOMFORTABLE AS POSSIBLE FOR THE FEMALE as circumcision. There is no equivalency at all.
Here’s to praying that November is a commination of the Commie Nation.
Isn’t she up for reelection? I thought she had a tough race ahead of her? Would be nice if she is out of both jobs. A+++
A+++ We will set ourselves free in NOvember.
A+++ NOvember can’t come soon enough.
i know that Germany says no snipping, but i am saying they are in error. i’m sorry aesthetics and hygiene require it. case closed!
I don’t trust SCOTUS at all. Not after Monday. A+++
The Obama-Holder combination
Deserves eternal commination
Huge security leaks
Fast and Furious piques
Mr. Issa to invoke condemnation
A+++
Saw in my Twitter feed that one RINO is “not ready” to vote contempt. A+++
Yes she is.
I thought she had a tough race ahead of her?
Maybe. I'm not sure. I know Florida redid its lines to get rid of what were some of the worst gerrymanders in the nation so she might have a competitive race.
Monday, Monday. Can't trust that day. Mama Cass never discussed Thursday, beyond mentioning that every other day of the week is fine.
no constitutional right to an uncircumscized penis. sorry.
Thanks for the tip.
no constitutional right to an uncircumscized penis. sorry.
Thanks for the tip.
That’s what she said.
Washerwoman couldn’t get the signatures to get on the ballot, but apparently paid a fee to get on it. Weird. You can buy your way on to a ballot in FL?
Cool. Looks like, with a few exceptions, a party line vote. Hope something happens to get the Dems to vote contempt. This is an appalling situation.
That BHO will have a surly reaction to an unfavorable ruling from SCOTUS tomorrow is a commination lock
His childish reaction to the AZ ruling will have consequences. Another bad reaction from him and he is toast. NOvember cannot come soon enough. A+++
The NRA is watching this vote so there could be as many D’s to flip. I’ll be watching for the jailbreak. Key House Dems to watch include: Critz, Altmire, Boren, and Rayhall among others.
Altmire is a lame duck, so not sure what would drive his vote.
You say “aesthetics” like you’re a connoisseur. Or connoisseuse, I guess.
Boren is a lame duck too but the funny thing about these guys is they often launch comebacks, either congressional or other.
I wonder if Obama has begun to feel
Nixon’s corrupt breath on his neck-
The possible commination of Holder
Should be quite a reality check
Perhaps Michelle Antoinette should
Forget about food for awhile
And pack her ugly, costly clothes
That have never been in style
I want to see them back at home
Living that same Chicago life
Just like before, but with no more
Than any other mob boss and his wife...
Jay the Carney’s daily blab is becoming a commination of stupid and condescending...
“You cant do the snip.”
Why not just leave the decision to the parents, and leave it at that? Parents might not think the same as the parents next door, but so what? Some women prefer clipped, some unclipped, as well-it is just a preference, like piercings, tats, etc.
The nurses freaked out when my daughter was born and I handed them a pair of little gold studs and asked them to pierce her ears-they refused and told me it was “barbaric” (my ears were pierced at birth, as per hispanic custom). Fortunately, one of my aunts who lived close had given birth to her 5th girl the day before, so she came over and we pierced both our baby girls’ ears.
very little ; ) no one knows who he is... : )
well that’s the obvious answer in a free country. Ridiculous that Germany feels they need to weigh in on this.
They put the total in totalitarian statism. Kind of like Mayor Doomberg.
No matter how long or how hard they try, Germany just can’t seem to get the goose step out of their march, or the “heil” out of their salute...
You weren’t asking the nurses to do the actual piercing, right?
No-I expected them to get one of the doctors to do the piercing-but those two nurses were horrified at the very idea that I’d want my baby’s ears pierced, even after I explained that it was customary to do that. I insisted that if they clip boys, a girl should be able to get a simple ear piercing, but the logic of that was completely lost on them.
I don’t think it’s a doctor’s or nurse’s job to pierce ears. You did it yourself, which is the correct solution.
Are you kidding? their job is to do what you ask and pay them to do. My mother took me to the Dr. to pierce my ears when i was 13 yo. they didn’t have storeclerks doing them back in the day, and she didn’t want me having friends do it with ice and string and the potential infections that were inevitable. she wanted hygienice surroundings.
hygienic.
I could not disagree more with your first sentence. Professionals have the right to refuse to do anything they find objectionable.
No, I wasn’t kidding. I also wasn’t considering what life was like before “ear piercing at the mall” was a common thing.
To me, it would be completely preposterous to ask a doctor or nurse to pierce ears in a maternity ward.
Today.
Maybe 40-50 years ago was a different thing. Or a different culture might have OB/GYN ear piercers as a matter of culture.
i am talking about ear piercing here, not abortions. And of course they can refuse to do whatever, but Dave’s point was that ear piercing is not a medical job and that is just ridiculous. Saying that piercing your baby’s ears yourself rather than having a medical professional do it is the proper course is just wrong. I am astounded that nurses would refuse to something culturally common. ESP in texas.
