Do you love fishing as I do? Did you give it up because of fibromyalgia? Instead of giving up, start preparing before you go! I have been fishing again for the last three years. I have specific things to take with me, and if you make a list, it will be no problem getting back to the sport you love!

I have family members with fibromyalgia, so I try to read articles about how others are coping with it. I am thinking that this might help the wife with camping outings as well. Anyway..if ya can use the info..I'm glad to pass it on. Probably won't mean much to those who do not suffer from it or have loved ones that do.

Dear Still:

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2009. When the treatments for Fibro made my symptoms worse, I went to a DC who did holistic/homeopathic to see if there were natural treatments that didn't exacerbate my condition. After 2.5 hours of testing, it turns out I didn't have Fibro; I had Systemic Candidas. Roughly 80% of the symptoms are the same. I changed my diet, did a system cleanse, and after 3 days of purging my system and stripping all sugar and yeast from my diet, 8 years of agony disappeared.

Several other folks that I talked to followed my advice and started getting themselves tested for food allergies. In almost every case, they had food allergies, not Fibro, and changing their diet greatly improved their health.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the very thoughtful reply. We don’t use a doctor for treatment..we too went the holistic route. I have to say that six years after the most aggressive treatment from the holistic nurse..the wife is having one of the best summers that I can ever remember.

She is gardening (we have two big ones)and she too is fishing. It used to be when she would garden or fish or even visit someplace that she would suffer for a week or two.

When I ask..she says her pain is not bothering her. I question (to myself of course) if she is truly better or if she is just so used to muscle pain and nerve weirdness that it isn’t bothering her as much.

Whatever it is..I pray it continues. In her case, lack of sleep had to be a biggy. She slept 2-4 hours for years. Diet was also horrible before her treatment. Her adrenals were sacked.

I don’t know what fibro is..I just know that it is life changing. She guts it out with no pain pills, aspirin or anything. Don’t know if I could have done the same thing.

Both my wife and I have Fibromyalgia, it's a pain. To make matters worse, I have Sleep Apnea and had Thyroid Cancer. My body won't adjust, but I'm still managing to work 60+ hour work weeks, by the grace of G-d.

If it truly is fibro not an allergy or something else, cymbalta seems to work quite well, and fibro is one of the syndromes its prescribed for. befor going for it read up on it. I have a friend on 40mg/d and its changed her life

Dear Still:

I had the exact same thing. Only a few hours of sleep a night for years, and it wiped my system out.

Other symptoms included: irritability, depression, alternating constipation and diahhrea, abdominal pain, persistent yeast infections, joint swelling and pain, chronic fatigue, chronic insomnia, blinding migranes, persistent sinus infections, and frightening periods of brain fog (I thought I had the early onset of Alzheimers).

I went from an empowered woman who effortlessly held down a full time job, kept a spotless house, and easily handled her children to a woman who literally crawled through her day wracked with pain. Like your wife, I was so used to living in pain and soldering on, when the pain stopped, I lterally wept.

If she has 2 or more of the symptoms I noted above, it's probably not Fibro, it's Candidas.

Have her strip ALL sugar, caffine, and yeast from her diet. Eat just meats, vegetables, and drink only water for 3 months (no caffine, fruit juices, just water). If she has Candidas, even healthy sugars (like fruits, nuts, and breads) will keep it alive and help it grow and spread.

Here is the approved diet.

The Candidas flush I used was Aqua Flora High Potency 9. They usually sell them at vitamin stores. Capfull in the morning and night for 3 months. It's critical to stick to the diet. No deviations, no cheating. She may also want to take a mild laxative (or eat lots of cucumbers) if she isn't consuming at least 8 glasses of water a day.

As a side benefit (which was wonderful on top of the disappearance of multiple symptoms that had been troubling me for years) I shed 30 lbs., age spots on my face went away, and puffiness was eliminated.

If she's having "good days" and "bad days", it could be directly related to something in her diet triggering the Candidas flair. I know instantly when I've triggered mine now; my joints swell and I feel like I've been run over by a Mac truck.
