I picked up a Molly Hatchet album for the Frazetta cover.

Nils Lofgren’s Breakaway Angel. I’d gone to the store intending to buy some Nils, when deciding which one the one with the Ralph Steadman called to me, as his art so often does.

"Eat a Peach" by the Allman Brothers Band. The inside album art was pure late 70's wild. Good music.

I loved the Cirque Du Soleil music from their CD “Mystere” and bought several other CDs back in the 90s without knowing what the music was based completely on their cover art.
Some were hit or miss, but I generally liked what I got.

It didn't take long before I became a Ken Snyder groupie, following him from Holiday Inn lounges, to Music Fairs, and Amusement Parks. That was the best summer of my life... until he went Sandusky on me.

Iron Maiden “Killers” with Paul DiAnno, before Bruce Dickinson was the frontman.
One of my little league baseball buddies brought the Kiss “Destroyer” album over to my house.
At about 11 years old, I thought it was the coolest thing I had ever seen. It was a good album, as well.

It wasn’t art, it was poetry.
Back around ‘78 Neil Young was quoted in Rolling Stone,
about his Rust... tour:
“I just wanted those kids to think this was the
loudest f_cking thing they ever heard.”
“At last”, I thought, “here’s somebody who understands.”
(pardon, but what was that you said?)

Don’t think I ever purchased an album for the cover art. However, below are some I thought were cool back in the day -
Savoy Brown - Street Corner Talking
T. Rex - Electric Warrior
Faces - Oh La La
Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
Queen - News of the World

Even better was the Velvet Underground album with the peelable banana designed by Andy Warhol. They’re worth a lot of money now if the banana was never peeled.

None.Every album/CD I’ve ever bought was bought because I knew,or at least suspected, that there was at least one song...or one passage...that I’d enjoy.

I had the Thick as a Brick LP when it came out in all it's glory. Little Milton's collaborator flashing her undies was pretty funny at the time.
But making it like a multi-page newspaper with all the satirical articles was very cool.

I listend to this YouTube version of a Buxtehude Alleluia and got fascinated both with the music and the painting that the YouTube poster showed during most of the playing of the music (the first art work that briefly appears is thought by some to be a painting of Buxtehude).
Unfortunately, the art work on the actual CD cover is not as inspiring as the YouTube art work. I keep seeing various things, a huge face, small figures, etc., in the YouTube painting. I keep wondering who painted it.
Enjoy.

People still buy CDs? They still make CDs?
And if you are buying music for the picture on the cover, wouldn’t it just be cheaper to download the image?
