Recommendations for Free or low-cost Online TV and Movie Providers?
6/30/12 | vanity

I'd appreciate suggestions for online streaming TV and movie providers (other than biggies like Netflix or those from specific cable systems). I've watched a Hulu at times and I think it is legit, but Google turns up a lot of garbage that really looks questionable, or sites that ask for personal information that feel like scams. I'm not a huge TV watcher so it's not worth inviting viruses and malware or putting up with time limits and poor quality feeds.

I'm willing to pay a reasonable fee for a service or site that would allow me to watch classic TV series especially from the 1960s to present.

Cancelled our cable last year. There are several sites that are usable but be cautious.

I’m always looking for more as well.

And free over the air TV with an antenna!

It’s great: METV for ‘60s shows, and all- HD live and network shows.

Boy, did I learn a big lesson! Youtube said my movie was free if I registered for Free Christian Movies.
The registration took me to a porn chat and immediately started loading malware. Fortunately, I discovered it was loading stuff without my permission.
I shut everything down, ran MalWareBites twice, and will be a lot more cautious in future!

About three months ago I started watching free movies and British TV series using my Amazon prime membership. I never watch tv anymore. The problem with Amazon is that you start watching a tv series that is free and when you get to the last few seasons they start charging $7.99 an episode.

While MWB is good, I would also run Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D when you have had a “partial infection”. Between the three you are pretty well assured that any nasties have been purged, including those that are running.

A big irony is that few of these programs will root out the deepest stuff, that is likely either government installed or advanced hacking. For this you actually have to get counter-hacking software written by hackers. This is very hard to find unless you know the programmer, as getting it off the Internet would be suicidal.

What is “flopping”?

I got stung on my movie thing because I rarely watch movies.
Usually a few youtube segments of something I saw 30 years ago makes me happy.
