Nice gesture, Alec. You might want to be sort of careful with your money, though, since you seem to have a predilection for trouble. Keep in mind, too, that you're probably going to be paying a considerable amount of “thoughtless little pig” support for a while, and the new, young thing on your arm likely will want some alimony shortly. All the while, you're not getting any younger or thinner.

Does this million bucks entitle him to beat the #### out of them individually at any time he wants?

I think he’s a pretty great guy! He’s funny as HELL, plays a conservative without making them look stupid; extremely talented, has been emceeing live at Lincoln Center for a long time, very knowledgeable, and now ponying up in a pretty considerable way. The only trouble is that I am opposed to the death to everything he stands for (except the orchestra).

You can probably endow a chair for a million bucks, so whoever is in that seat is the one he gets to beat the &*^& out of :).

I guess that's nice.

But I wish these people would donate to organizations, if there are any, that identify legitimate people in need... hardworking people truly in financial straits to maybe pay their mortgage for the month because the breadwinner got laid off or paying for an elderly person's electric bills for the winter. I mean honest people who are trying hard or are unable to make a living but are still up against the wall financially.

When there is so much need, especially in today's craptacular economy, I'm not very enthused about big dollars going to the arts.

Unlike Bill Maher who donated a million dollars to the despicable Communist-in-Chief to help him destroy us, the liberal Baldwin at least showed class and intelligence giving his million bucks to promoting classical music.

I feel revulsion when I see both private and public money going to religion-hating and/or radically-political "art artists" or to the propagandist leftists at National Public Radio.

But if someone is going to donate freely of his/her own will, I'm grateful someone like Baldwin applied his money to an art that needs all the help it can get in this day of poor economics when hurtin' folks are staying home from classical concerts. Orchestra grunt musicians have to eat, too.

I'm also grateful Baldwin is supporting the very existence of a classical orchestra in view of the blaring, no-redeeming-social-value, classless, copy-cat "music" enveloping and dominating the lives of much of the younger generation today.

At least some of these yutes will have the option of attending future classical concerts instead of rock concerts if they so choose....thanks to donors like Baldwin.

Leni

If I were as rich as Alec Baldwin, I’d give twice that much to the CSO.

Art is always relevant no matter how materially poor one is. It lifts the human spirit.

Classical music is for everyone. You can still get cheap seats and enjoy the music.
