Posted on 07/07/2012 1:17:54 PM PDT by Hunton Peck
A Houston Police Department spokesperson said Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson was arrested early Saturday morning for resisting arrest, according to CBS-affiliate KHOU.
Peterson was arrested at 2:30 a.m. Saturday after being at a nightclub in downtown Houston, police say.
Peterson, who is from Palestine, Texas, remains in a Houston jail on a $1,000 bond, according to information on the Houston Police Department website.
Team spokesman Bob Hagan said Saturday that the Vikings are aware of the situation and are gathering more information.

Hope it is not something of an unseemly nature. Always had the impression he was a good guy and good example for the kids. Hopefully it was a stack of unpaid parking tickets.
"That doesn't make any sense..."
If only AP had volunteered to be arrested, he would not have been arrested for resisting arrest.
Yet another reason why I’m not keeping him on my fantasy football keeper team.
It’s a recursive arrest.
Probably tried to run from a drunk in public situation.
TMZ reporting he shoved an off-duty police officer. Obviously a Napolean Bonaparte.
If Obama had a running back...
So now bouncers can make arrests? Plus it sounded like the place was full of other drunks, I mean cops.
Nothing good happens after 2:30 am.
I wonder if the “off duty” cop’s id themselfs as cops???
Uh.....”remains in jail on a 1000 dollar bond”?????? really? REALLY???? 1000 dollars? He doesn’t have 100 bux? That’s....curious. :-/
After 2:30 am is when most of the interesting/entertaining stuff happens.
In its own way, that’s even weirder than the pre-emptive resistance thing.
Nothing good happens at 2:30AM out in the streets.
“Nothing good happens at 2:30AM out in the streets.”-—>True.
“Nothing good happens after 2:30 am.”-—>No no no no NOT true.”
(Why just last night...um...ahh, never mind...)
Like a departed friend of mine used to say,”No matter where you are in the world, day or night, there’s always something to do.Sometimes you have to be pretty sick to do it...”
“the Vikings are aware of the situation and are gathering more information.
And gathering more bail money too.
That is why I put in ‘in the streets’ :>
Shoved an off duty cop working at bar the second time he told AP it was closing time & he had to leave. Squared off against the other off duty officers who came to their buddy’s aid. Stupid move on AP’s part. Just get up, leave quietly, and head for the Waffle House. AP rehab’ing from knee surgery. Any chance he is full of ‘roids to speed the recovery? Remember this is the overpaid knothead who says playing in the NFL is akin to slavery. Moron.
According to Jerome Solomon, the Houston Chronicle columnist who broke the story, Peterson was out with his girlfriend and family at the nightclub, when police arrived, telling everyone to get out.Solomon says white people probably haven't heard of being arrested for resisting arrest, implying that minorities are familiar with the concept.
Peterson wanted to get a drink of water first, according to Solomon, and an officer told him to leave. Peterson tried to leave and was walking out with a bouncer, when the officer allegedly jumped him from behind. Others officers joined in the effort.
Either came from out of the blue, as if Adrian was trying to get away from something, or in the back and forth of the wording, the police officer decided, Im going to arrest the guy because I dont like what he said, Solomon said.
Sources close to WCCO sports Mike Max say that Peterson was not physical, and he is upset with how he was treated by one officer in particular.
Solomon said the officer was probably not on duty, but hired by the club for security. He said that is a common practice there.
He also said there is surveillance tape of the incident. My guess is that the police are going to say, We told him to stop, and he didnt, so we took him down, he said.
Peterson will remain in Houston for the next couple of days to meet with his lawyers. They are interested in talking to specific witnesses as soon as Sunday.
The bit about AP still being in jail on $1000 bail is still in the article as of this posting.
Unless things have changed since I moved, Houston cops in uniform can work as security in clubs. It actually worked well back when I was there. You didn’t start trouble in these clubs or you were charged with assaulting a police officer. Also, they called their on duty buddies who swarmed in a hurry. There weren’t many problems in the clubs that employed them
Right on...as opposed to, say, “between the sheets”
What a moron........
More WHITE people have been arrested for resisting arrest than black people.
interesting... if they were in uni’s then you would know by looking
