Search Engines Don't Need To Be Leftist
Search Engine List ^ | 7/12/12 | Old Sarge

Okay, Folks, on a recent thread about the demise of NBC News, the following observation was made:

Google has gone far left. People are looking to leave Google, but the only real competition in a search engine is Bing, owned by MS. I have seen and made several comments about how I’d like to leave Google, but why hop to MS, of MSNBC?

Well, that got me thinking: what alternative search engines are out there?

The link I found provides a neat, but HUGE, rollup of various search engines, search sites and alternatives to the Leftist monoliths of the Web.

Personally, I rid myself of Google Chrome as my browser, and I now use Comodo Dragon, which I'm happy to say I'm pleased with its security features. I have also avoided Google as a search engine, and have been using Yahoo as both my email provider and my search engine.

Didn’t Yahoo have a security problem involving passwords?

I like ixquick and it advertises that it doesn’t keep or pass on any of your information. If I could block google altogether on my box, I would.

I still use altavista...which is actually yahoo now, I believe. At least it switches over to yahoo when you search for pics.

A conservative watchdog group says they have uncovered private opposition research files compiled by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee on dozens of Republican candidates for Congress that accidentally ended up on Google.

The group, Media Trackers, said they found the files — which include research on Florida Rep. Allen West — online because of an “IT glitch on the DCCC’s web server that allowed Google searches for opposition research terms related to Republican candidates to pull the files up.”

Thanks! I had gone hopping around the web looking for an alternative to google, and while there were some possibilities, when you doublecheck them a lot of them rely on google or Bing in one manner or another.

For instance, I used ixquick but you’ll note by the side it says, “enhanced by google”. Other engines use google or Bing results. And of course, there is Facebook, Youtube etc all google entities.

Lots of friends were upset last week when Google banned guns. One actually is going off facebook for a while (and she is hardcore!). Now at the same time they announce their gay thing. I really do thing the people at MS are monitoring some of this and perhaps some of the smarter ones might be thinking, hmmm, perhaps this might be an opportunity to steal some of Google’s base.

BTW, I’ve switched to goodsearch. It’s powered by Yahoo, which is MS (Bing). But at least I’m donating to the tea party with every search.

Yahoo is Bing!

This is the point. Almost everything ends up MS or Google.

Good evening, Old Sarge! I'm fed up to my eyeballs with Google. I note that Google's Fourth of July graphic was not a patriotic graphic but rather one that glorified the Bolshevik Woody Guthrie anthem "This Land Is Your Land." He wrote that song as a response to Irving Berlin's "God Bless America!" Nothing more need be said.

Thanks for posting this thread - I'm looking for a search engine myself. I reject Google and I'm not likely to embrace Bing - I hate Gates and his CINO wife.

We need to all keep this rolling. Google is bad for small businesses and endorses and unAmerican agenda.
