I saw a picture of this on my wife's Facebook page and thought it was BS. So I checked it out with a birds eye view of the island, via bing. WTF is wrong with this picture? Outside of everything that is good!
That link didn’t work, use this and go to birds eye view
Well... it is a very stable design.
What’s it look like from the ground ?
Linkee no workee.
I see a building shaped like a dog bone.
Ok try this, its across the street.
3238 Guadalcanal Rd # 18, San Diego, CA
linkee be stinkee.
The story has been around for at least a year.
I don’t have any issues with it. Seems to be a shape that maximizes the usable space.
Good thing the nazis never used squares or circles.
Old story, it wasn’t intentional and the Navy is changing it just to please the interwebs.
This isn’t fake. It happened, it’s an older building and the design has been addressed since people nothing better to do complained about it.
Have you ever seen a map of Florida?!?!
Children have access to maps and might see that. The shape of Florida is just going to have to be changed.
I’m trying! If some one knows how to get the birds eye photo up, that would be great. My skills are not in the world of computers.
It’s on the north end of the naval amphibious base on the strip leading to Coranado. It takes up the block between Bougainville Rd and Tulagi Rd, Eniwetok Rd and Roi Rd...

Thanks to the power of Google Earth and the internet the US Navy have decided to spend as much as $600,000 on major alterations to a perfectly good barracks. The reason for the spend is that, when viewed on Google Earth, the building complex resembles a swastika.
For me yes. Thank you.
You’ll probably get an email saying Barbara Walters is hosting a special honoring Jane Fonda as “Woman of the Year”. That one’s about 10 years old.
They had this NAZI scientist on who said "If only we had had more time!"
If I cared enough, I'd post the 'Aliens' guy with the caption 'Nazis?'.
Now here's something else to thank me for: advice. To wit, if you can't do something then don't do it.
This has been bouncing around the internet since there’s been an internet. It’s shaped like a swastika. So what?
A dollar sign would have worked too. ;-)
Symbolism is very important! Tear down the building, whatever the cost!
And here's another thing. There are two private swimming pools near where I live. They are close together. From the air, they look just like Tojo's glasses! Remove those swimming pools, whatever the cost!
Isn’t Jane Fonda still helping out the North Vietnamese?
I don't know if I'd want to live in the retirement home, it even looks a little konzentrazionslagerisch:
I’m still hung up on the black Jew question.
Are they called “Hebros” or not?
She stopped helping the Viet Cong when she started helping Ted Turner to the bathroom.
Arex Zones approves.
actually, old news, I remember hearing this in the late 70’s from sailors who were USS Okinawa and Belleau Wood
“To wit, if you can’t do something then don’t do it.”
Thanks for the advice, I’ll pass this time. It would remove too much adventure, learning, and surprise from life. I do know when to call in a pro...

The swastika (Sanskrit: स्वस्तिक) is an equilateral cross with four arms bent at right angles, in either a right-facing (卐) form or its mirrored, left-facing (卍) form. Earliest archaeological evidence of swastika-shaped ornaments dates back to the Indus Valley Civilization of Ancient India as well as Classical Antiquity. Swastikas have also been used in various other ancient civilizations around the world. It remains widely used in Indian religions, specifically in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, primarily as a tantric symbol to evoke shakti or the sacred symbol of auspiciousness. The word "swastika" comes from the Sanskrit svastika - "su" meaning "good," "asti" meaning "to be," and "ka" as a suffix. The swastika literally means "to be good".
In East Asia, when written left-facing (Chinese: 卍; WadeGiles: wan), the swastika is a Chinese character, its entry on Kangxi Dictionary, published in 1716, defined it as "synonym of myriad, used mostly in Buddhist classic texts", by extension, the word later evolved to represent eternity and Buddhism.
Following a brief surge of popularity in Western culture, a right-facing, diagonally rotated swastika was adopted as a symbol of the Nazi Party of Germany in 1920. The Nazis used the swastika as a symbol of the Aryan race. After Adolf Hitlers rise to power in the 1930s, a right-facing and rotated swastika was incorporated into the Nazi party flag, which was made the state flag of Germany during Nazism. Hence, the swastika has become strongly associated with Nazism and related ideologies such as fascism and white supremacism in the Western world and is now largely stigmatized there. Notably, it has been outlawed in Germany if used as a symbol of Nazism. Many modern political extremists and Neo-Nazi groups such as the Russian National Unity use stylized swastikas or similar symbols.
In the East however, as a religious symbol of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, the swastika continues to be quite commonly used.
Who was the architect? Besides looking like it was designed by someone on der Fuhrer’s staff, it strikes me as a dumb design. Most military settings like that are designed around a quadrangle setting.
This swastika layout makes the whole installation appear disjointed and unorganized. When the men fall out for formation they’d be running around like a proverbial chinese firedrill to get into formation. For an apartment or condo complex, O.K., to give some separation and privacy to the individual residents. But for a military billet?
Not to worry. The Concrete Eating Monster has made a good start eating into those swastikas. Soon they’ll be gone.
Don’t get it. Pls explain
They should rebuild it in the shape of a crescent, with a small star as the central office.
Coming soon from Washington.
The bastards already did this with the flight 93 memorial, they have no ethics or values. They are from hell.
How is that a efficient design? My dad was a architect, and big into social engineering. I grew up with this crap. How is this efficient first? Architectural engineering is a long term statement. What moron approved the plans!?
No not imagination (Native American Pattern, prove it!), just historical facts. I know it’s not convenient, especially if you live in fantasy land, as most Americans do! I left the sci-fi world a long time ago, unlike allot of people that vote here. What are your facts?
since you don't like it, lease tell me how YOU would design it
not to mention that symbol is Sanskrit from thousands of years before the NAZI's glommed onto it!
You live in California1
It would have looked like that on the construction drawing plan layouts. The Architect designed it. The Navy approved it. I doubt the layout was all that hard to see. Before the NAZI's, it was a perfectly good symbol used in Asia. The NAZI's forever put an indelible stamp of horror on this symbol.
