Sexism played role in Penn St. horror
Fox Sports ^ | July 13, 2012 | Jason Whitlock

They want us to believe Joe Paterno and his title-heavy minions — university president Graham Spanier, athletic director Tim Curley and senior vice president Gary Schultz — didn’t fully grasp the depravity of Jerry Sandusky’s perversion.

They, Paterno’s remaining apologists, want us to believe JoePa’s and Penn State’s sin had more to do with naivete than vanity.

They’re delusional and think we’re stupid.

There is a lot of truth in this, IMHO.

The degradation of our culture is to blame...cultures don’t un-degrade at the ballot box. They are sometimes reborn after the cataclysm.

Joe Pervtorno spent decades sitting on a high horse, while degrading good men like Jackie Sherrill, an honorable man who was always a decent and forthright man. Now Jackie Sherrill will go down in history as a good and decent force who was sadly unable to hold back the depredations of Pervtorno and his band of boy molesters.

Heck, compared to Paterno, Barry Switzers gun-runners of the 1980's Oklahoma teams seem pure and pristine.

One of the lessons to be taken from this Penn State mess is that universities need to empower women in their athletic departments. Strong women. Women like Pat Summitt. Women who aren’t afraid to publicly dislike Geno Auriemma. Women who make men uncomfortable.

It may certainly be as you say, TwelveOfTwenty, there is a lot of truth in this. I await my fellow (fellowette?) FReepers' reactions.

It was clearly the fault of external genitalia. If only there were some ovaries around. All men hide pedophiles of course.

JoPa was one of the finest, most decent men that I have ever met.
Like the Catholic Church that he is part of, he has become a target of Liberal trash ire, and the MSM has piled on.

Unfortunately, many Freepers here with zero understanding of matters other than what the MSM hand feeds them are little different that the Liberal trash DU types that abound in society today...

It's not that they need to empower women, they need to get rid of the homosexual pedophiles. You think a lesbian athletic director would have been more likely to expose wrongdoing? She would have been part of the coverup team.

I don't know. I'd like to think women are more likely to protect the kids and blow the whistle on bad guys --- but I've lived long enough to see women line up their own children for abuse by their husband or boyfriend.

I caught a whiff of it once when I was sidewalk-counseling outside of an abortion place in Oakland, CA and discovered women pimping out their own barely-adolescent middle-school-age daughters to service random men sexually for money.

I could hardly grasp the realty of it at the time. My mind recoiled from it. Utterly reprehensible, utterly repulsive. But in so many abuse cases which happen within a household, the grown woman on site knows full well.

It "makes sense" to me that a woman would have a child-protective instinct. It seems to be so in the animal world. But corruption among humans exceeds all bounds.

I would have beaten that man silly if i walked into the shower at the time of the rape. Then I would have talked to every and all media outlets.

Witlock assumes wrongly that because I have penis I would not/could not be outraged. He is a sexist pig.

Point taken, but I would have also noticed with disgust the men paying to be serviced by these middle-school-age girls.

Many were in a position to get rid of this pedophile. No one did.

Whitlock also said "And as it relates to Jerry Sandusky, it certainly does not mean that most men would act in the same cowardly and immoral way as Penn State’s Four Horsemen."

The author’s point is that the “they” you speak of did NOT get rid of the homo pedophile. “They” let it all slide, without a hypothetical lesbian in sight.

Just what we need, women hanging around the locker room of college-aged male athletes. What could go wrong there?

Certainly no less than went wrong when barely pubescent boys hung around them, yes?

The author isn’t suggesting that. What he suggests is that women in power and in a position to put a stop to this likely would have, unlike the men who did nothing.

In this instance, of course what happened was worse. I’m speaking in generalities, and I think you knew that.
