Within minutes of the Aurora, Colorado theater shooting, Brian Ross of ABC News reports to George Stephanopoulos that a man named James Holmes, same first and last name as the reported suspect, is listed as member of a local Tea Party group. Ross speculates, with any proof to connect them, that this James Holmes is the suspect. A search on PeopleSmart.com finds no fewer than 12 individuals sharing that same first and last name.
Mark Steyn, substituting for Rush Limbaugh on the Rush Limbaugh Show today, reports that the James Holmes who is listed with the local Tea Party group has received several threatening calls from what Steyn calls “left wing loonies.” As a result, Holmes request and have his own phone disconnected to stop the harassing phone calls he's received as a result of the speculation by the media that he might be the shooting suspect.

You know, Congress sticks their noses into all kinds of stuff that they have no business even thinking about. Major League Sports comes to mind. Now the Press, that is a totally different aspect. The Press in this country have protections offered by the Bill of Rights. With those protections should come UPHELD responsibilities.

The media ruined his life. I don’t recall if he got any death threats. But he was crucified in the media, he endured personal slurs from the media who proclaimed him guilty of the bombing.
The media did the same to George Zimmerman. He’s been declared guilty in the press. People speaking of the case refer to his committing murder. Frankly, he should have gotten the hell out of the USA when he had a chance. Because he’s been convicted in the media, and on the off chance that he’s found “not guilty,” you can bet he’ll be sued, and probably brought up on federal charges as well. There’s no way he’ll ever get a “fair” trial, and they’ll keep bringing charges against him until he’s convicted or murdered.
Now we’ve got the national media slurring innocent people, who immediately begin getting death threats. GMA and ABC needs to be held accountable for anything that happens to people who happen to have the same name.
