FR, ahead of its time again!

Well the system was brought back from its flirtation with oblivion a few days ago, but it appears the system time stamp is about a couple hours out of whack now. I'd seen it 15 minutes ahead; this is a new achievement being almost 2 hours in the future.

Don’t worry about the future, it will come soon enough.

It’s hard to make predictions, especially about the future.

Think of it as adding character, and annoying the obsessive types.

Either that, or plausible deniability.

NTP is over-rated unless you NEED that kind of accuracy. +/- a half day is good enough for FR.

With the live TV drawings, this could be quite advantageous!

I know. Jim wants one of us to use this to win the Powerball, then donate enough to buy new servers and run FR for the next 50 years.

This book is non-fiction, written under the pseudonym of Joseph Novak soon after Kosinski's arrival in the United States and after escaping from Communist Russia. This is his first novel, and he later wrote many, including. "The Painted Bird" and "Being There", which was made a movie starring Peter Sellers. Jerzy Nikodem Kosinski was a Polish-born American writer whose novels were sociological studies of individuals in controlling and bureaucratic societies. Kosinski was born into a Jewish family in Lodz, and at the outbreak of World War II he became separated from his parents and wandered through Poland and Russia, living by his wits and under threat of being discovered and killed by the Nazis. This experience so traumatized him that he became mute and did not regain his speech until 1947.

If time worked, what time is it set for? Eastern, Central, Mountain, Pacific? I’ve never known and seldom look at the time.

I don’t know where you got this excerpt, but it is incorrect and misleading. If the book is “non-fiction” then it can’t be simultaneously a “novel”. But read on. Also, Kosinski did not “escape” from Communist Russia, where he never even visited, as he claims in the book, which in fact IS fiction, and was probably written in Polish, since his following book The Painted Bird was written in Polish and secretly translated into English. Kosinski was quite a character, a hustler and a faker, which is one reason he is being forgotten now by people who once promoted him. Still, he was a good guy and an anti-Communist activist in the PEN Club.

I think the down time was Jim moving the servers so we could stay 2 jumps ahead of THEM. Good job!

Reminds me of our secret underground nuclear submarine bases in Afghanistan...

“My guess is a sundial somewhere on the border between Nevada and California.”

That explains it - maybe it’s cloudly there so the sun can’t see the sundial - thanks much for clearing that up for me.
