Disabled elderly man detained by TSA, misses flight
TSA news Blog ^ | July 20, 2012 | Lisa Simeone

Posted on 07/24/2012 12:23:42 AM PDT by Altariel

There’s been so much abuse by the TSA over the past several days it’s hard to keep up. From the deaf man who was mocked to the Make-A-Wish child who was hassled to the woman who was strip-searched and whose feeding tube was contaminated to the whole host of disabled people who’ve been abused, we now add the story of an elderly disabled man traveling with an oxygen machine who was detained, grilled, scanned three times, and made to miss his flight. Oh, and his daughter was threatened for good measure.

Primo Meza and his stepdaughter were going through security at the Des Moines airport when Meza’s pacemaker apparently set off an alarm. The crack team of TSA clerks immediately suspected him of nefarious intent:

In the time it took agents to determine Meza was not a security threat, his batteries depleted to the point where it was not safe for him to fly home. His daughter says she tried to plug in the machine during the screening process, but was told she couldn’t.

“When I tried to walk towards him they surrounded me and told me I couldn’t touch him and I said I need . . . I told them like five times I needed to plug him in so that he didn’t lose his battery life,” Tonya Gahagan said, “and they adamantly said I could not.”

And why couldn’t she? Because those electrical outlets are special. They can be used only for screening purposes, not for, oh, say, saving a man’s life.

Just think of the possibilities: a whole cadre of elderly disabled people from Florida, like Meza, could be armed to the teeth and descend on a checkpoint en masse, all claiming that the batteries to their oxygen machines have run out. Why, if the TSA let them all plug their weaponized machines into the outlets, everything could go kaboom!

We can’t allow that. Not in the Land of the Free.

Any bets on how long it takes until the TSA comes out with a public statement that “proper procedures were followed”?

So what if Meza missed his plane? After all, you know how the saying goes: Anything For Safety!

Well, the good news is that three of Obama’s Sons didn't beat him to death.

How many Muslims work for TSA? Bad as Affirmative Action thugs are, Muslim employees would make TSA nothing but a sick joke on the American people, just the kind of thing Obama would laugh at.

TSA doesn’t make mistakes, the flyers do. They’re just too damned stupid to follow the rules of those wonderful TSA agents that were picked up on the side of the road. And oh, yeah. Can’t forget the hairstylist who was hired at Houson Hobby Airport 2 weeks after 911 and was working on 9/30.

As long as we allow this to happen, it will only get worse. And there’s one way to stop this nazism. Vote people into office who will stand up to the jackboots. And if that doesn’t work, well, I guess they’ll have to get their drones up. Oh, wait! One just flew over head. Nah, it was a bug.

This will continue as long as people continue to fly commercial.

Everyone cut out all flying that isn’t ABSOLUTELY necessary for two months and sanity will return.

How do you figure that?

Have you never heard about taxpayer bailouts for ‘too big to fail’ industries?

GM shows us how it’s done on our dime.

Commercial airlines will end up the same way.

At one time it was called fascism. Today it’s called ‘forward’.

Yeah, I thought of that.

But no amount of blog posts and grumbling is going to make it go away, and the airlines themselves bitching at 0bama is the only thing that has ANY chance of working, short of armed insurrection.

And if the airlines complaining doesn’t work, and the Punk bails them out it will bring the latter one more step towards fruition

And that is why my friend’s daughter refused to allow her Mom to ever, ever, ever take commercial again.

Effin A-holes.

And I’ve had my own experiences. One where our local PD intervened to tell the TSA queer he was going to far.

I stopped in 2002. But many here on FR make excuses while bitching about the TSA. I understand businessmen who have to fly but I will no longer go any place that I cannot drive.

I used to fly 5 times a year. In 2002, I flew twice to use up my flight miles. I saw where we were heading then and quit. Now its 100 times worse and yet the sheep beg for more.

I’ve said the same thing over and over again. If everyone would just stop flying it wouldn’t even take two months before the airlines would be on the verge of bankruptcy! The administration would be embarrassed into taking action to correct the out of control TSA. What are they going to do? Bail out the airlines? And for how long could they do that? And can you imagine the hearings that would take place trying to get money appropriated and having to explain why people had stopped flying?

Many of those who cry the loudest about the TSA continue to subject themselves to these outrages, but worse yet the continue to subject their wives, mothers, daughters and children to what in any other circumstances would be considered sexual assault and do nothing about it.

This agency has morphed froma loose confederation of imbeciles and incompetents to an utter and shameful national disgrace.

They are the Keystone Kops melded with Hitler’s SS.

Thanks George W. Bush.

Even the Democrats wouldn’t have been able to come up with this mess.

I don’t see the con man from KOLOB doing anything about this either, except maybe getting TSA to wear ties and bicycle helmets.

on the bright side, look how many tax payer and subsidized jobs the TSA has created. Wow. Awesome. Makes me LOVE the Muslims, they’d make it easier for everyone to carry a Religious I.D, and just examine Muslims......

Likewise (2002)..

Mentioned in another post a few days ago that something similar happened to me coming back from Saipan.. out of all of the people in line waiting to board, I was the only white guy.. and I happened to be the only one that was pulled aside and searched (hair down to feet, literally).. everything swabbed to test for ‘bomb’ residue (including suitcase and carry-on, of course)..

Last time I flew :p

I suppose if I go back to the states, which is looking iffy at, I will get on a ship or swim back :p

I have a friend who flies weekly on business. I asked him about the TSA. I can’t print what he said.

You're mentally residing in fantasyland. This regime does not get embarrassed about government failures. It justifies them by vilifying the complainers. And this regime would NOT take action to correct the TSA, it will do what it always does - throw more of our money at it and take it over via regulation. Though I would submit they will go a step further than GM and simply nationalize the airlines.

What are they going to do? Bail out the airlines?

Yes. With your money and mine.

And for how long could they do that?

Ask GM. And if they nationalize the airlines as a matter of national security - it will be indefinite and permanent.

And can you imagine the hearings that would take place trying to get money appropriated and having to explain why people had stopped flying?

You mean like the hearings they held appropriating money for the GM bailouts, Green Industry subsidies and ObamaCare? Like those kinds of hearings? You mean like the open hearings about WHY healthcare costs are so expensive that the government had to nationalize the healthcare industry with legislation written in secret and voted on without a single Congressman reading the bill???

Those kinds of hearings?

Yes. I'm sure we will have those same kinds of hearings to explain why people are no longer flying. I'm also sure that they will blame Bush for the reason no one is flying.

Many of those who cry the loudest about the TSA continue to subject themselves to these outrages, but worse yet the continue to subject their wives, mothers, daughters and children to what in any other circumstances would be considered sexual assault and do nothing about it.

Well at least now you know how it is that a people are willing to live under tyranny. Evils are still sufferable, and while they are - they will accommodate them.

What the MarxoFascists do is blame the misery they created on their enemies. Lucky for the tyrants that people do not think, but emote. That is why such demagoguery works.
