Danielson, who died Thursday of dementia at age 83, wrestled for 23 years across the United States and beyond both borders. From Canada to Mexico, Danielson made several names for himself as a tag team terror -- primarily while partnering with his brother-in-law, Stan "Krusher" Kowalski.

Born and raised in Northeast Minneapolis, Danielson joined the U.S. Navy for five years and returned to the Twin Cities. He got a job at the Flame, a Minneapolis nightclub, where he was discovered by a wrestling promoter.

At 6-foot-1 and 280 pounds -- "back then that would be considered large," his son noted -- Danielson began a national circuit around 1950, wrestling with 23 partners as well as facing 142 opponents on his own. That total doesn't include a black bear named Victor, whom he would occasionally face in front of a televised audience.

“The Crusher” that you are referring to is Reggie Lisowski. Stan Kowalski had the nickname of “Killer”.

Reggie “The Crusher” Lisowski, a professional wrestler considered a man of the people because of his blue-collar Milwaukee roots, died Saturday night. He was 79. (2005)
