The best pick for Romney vice president? The one no one's talking about
Jewish World Review ^ | 8/2/2012 | Jeremy D. Mayer

The Romney campaign announced Tuesday that it will alert Mitt Romney's supporters of his pick for vice president via smartphone app, renewing speculation about a potential VP and Mr. Romney's timeline for announcing the decision.

The great mentioning game for the Republican vice presidential slot has featured the same few names over and over: Tim Pawlenty, Marco Rubio, Chris Christie, Bobby Jindal, Mitch Daniels, Rob Portman, even Condoleezza Rice. But there's a candidate that Romney should be considering, someone who could help him with the Jewish vote, gain him support in a crucial swing state, and give him an exciting surprise selection bounce: Eric Cantor, the majority leader of the House of Representatives.

But Mr. Cantor, the strongest pick for Romney, isn't even listed on predictwise's otherwise exhaustive set of 26 possibilities, which even includes such unimaginable choices as Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, and Ron Paul.

Why reach way back into the obscurity of the House of Representatives to Cantor, passing over so many able governors and senators, most with much bigger national name recognition?

Cantor? That would be an utterly pointless choice! That would alienate more people than it would draw!

“Romney did say he’d pick a conservative.”

Actions speak louder than words..and his definition of “conservative” (along with the GOP-E’) ..may be different than ours.

Romney did say he’d pick a conservative.

Depends what his definition of conservative is.

Hopefully, Cantor is NOT Romney's idea of a conservative.

So does this mean if we pick Allan West we can get the Black vote?

We can get some of the black vote, most of the military vote, most of the Patriotic Americans vote, most of the Christian vote, most of the motorcycle riders vote, um, let's see, what's left?

I’m not happy about it, but I think Mike Huckabee may have jumped to the top of the list yesterday.

With Cantor, he’d be handing it over to Hussein, again.

Paul Ryan is the IT guy for VP. No one else on the short list comes close.

Ryan is the only one with the smarts, the guts, and the Reaganesque personal presence to stand up to the $h!tstorm the Dims will let loose against any -and every- GOP candidate.

There is only one other potential candidate I can think of who has what it takes to survive the onslaught:
Jon Kyl.

But Kyl has said he will not run as VP.

Not crazy

I was pulling for McCain to pick Cantor in 2008...

cantor was the one who kept the lights on in the House when all the Democrats went home in the summer of 2008 leaving much important legislation unfinished...

______________________________________________

Willards idea of what a Conservative is is a lot different than youre might be...

Willard called himself a Conservative and yet hes pro-abortion and the father of $50 abortions in his RomneyCare and same sex marriage in MASS..

and in 2002 he said if parents wont give permission for underage girls to get an abortion he would get the judges in MASS to overrule the parents authority...

He has not objected to gays in the military or gays marching in a gay parade in their US military uniform or gays adopting...

See it depends on what the word “Conservative” means...

To Willard Rudi Guliani is a Conservative...

If Romney’s a severe conservative, one would have to assume the VP pick will be less conservative than Willard.
