Carbonite CEO: Dropping Rush Limbaugh Hurt Revenue More than Expected
breitbart.com ^ | Aug. 3, 2012 | Tony Lee

When Media Matters helped organize the Stop Rush boycott pressuring corporations to pull advertisements from Rush Limbaugh’s show, the online file storage company Carbonite was one of the first big names to give in. Now, as William Jacobson of the “Legal Insurrection” blog noted, Carbonite’s CEO David Friend conceded on a conference call that dropping Limbaugh deeply hurt the company’s earnings.

Carbonite’s 2nd Quarter 2012 results shocked analysts, causing the company's stock price to plummet by 15% in one day.

HA, HA, the results of liberal facism, serves them right!

I don’t remember if this is the client that soon realized they’d erred and tried to get back on the air , but Rush declined to renew them.

But haven’t some stations which carry El Rushbo suffered loss in advertising revenue noon to 3 pm?
Since the boycott I hear too many PSAs on WABC NYC 770 rather than real ads.

I hear too many PSAs

It seems the number of PSA's have increased during 0bama's regime; how stupid and annoying they are, seems should be more directed to the lib stations, OH WAIT, there aren't any :-)

Sleep Train would be a local buy, Sacramento I believe, which Rush would have no influence over. Regarding PSA's on WABC; they're not on the network here, so again if true it's a local issue which are influenced by many things. With his national numbers up, there's no excuse for locals to be selling less.

I'm skeptical of the report.

Carbonite CEO: Dropping Rush Limbaugh Hurt Revenue More than Expected

So what?
What difference should it make? It's not about principle, right?

Companies and corporations don't need principles.

Stop whining already.

Actions.
Consequences.

I’m pretty sure that company was Sleep Train, who Rush helped get started in Sacramento while he worked for KFBK.

Since the boycott I hear too many PSAs on WABC NYC 770 rather than real ads.

That would be the result of the local commercial times as opposed to the national commercials, which remain essentially unchanged.

Same in here in the DFW metroplex on WBAP - lots and lots of PSAs. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the recent sale of the station to Cumulus.

No. Sleep Train was Limbaugh's original first advertiser, who stayed with him all this time. That's why Sleep Train jumping stung Limbaugh so much, and why he refused to take them back.

So they figure this is best way to make it up after dropping Rush....

I remember differently. Your history jives with my recall, but Sleep Train is not a national advertiser. Unless Sleep Train is parent of "Sleep Number". If not, Rush must've been doing the local spots for his long-time advertiser.

Just curious.

Good for you. I dropped my Ladies Home Journal, Readers Digest and Southern Living magazine when they featured “moochelle.” And I made sure to tell them that was the reason I was canceling.

The woman at Southern Living was oh so nice when I first called and then when I gave my reason she became very angry. But I got my $7 refund from Southern Living for the remainder of my subscription.

Are you listening online or over the air? Online, most station breaks are PSAs rather than ads. Besides, the radio stations have many advertisers who pay to be on whenever, not specifically during a particular show, and would simply fill in, using them, any space opened up from an advertiser who time-shifted an ad at the particular time Rush was on. See THIS.

IMHO, anybody that depends on a cloud-based backup service, like Carbonite, is just asking for trouble as you have absolutely no control over your data.

Spend $100, buy an external hard drive and back it up yourself. It’s not that hard anymore.
