She bagged the coveted role of the new Doctor Who assistant five months ago, and Jenna-Louise Coleman has now got to work in shooting what is believed to be her debut scenes. The 26-year-old actress will take over from Scottish star Karen Gillan in portraying the Time Lord's new companion, Clara. It is believed the thought Coleman will make her entrance on the BBC sci-fi show's Christmas special, which the former Emmerdale actress began filming scenes for yesterday.

Can't wait for the new assistant and I love when Dr. Who goes Victorian. Too bad the photos of Miss Coleman had her in some winter jacket. :(

I have only watched the re-booted series but I like Martha Jones the best.

My favorite Doctors so far have been David Tennant and Matt Smith.

Really brilliant the way the show was written for ever changing characters.

Perhaps showing my age, but K-9 was my favorite Dr Who companion ... and maybe Leela then Martha then, well now, I favor the stunning in my eyes Alex, er, River Song.

I will admit that the theme of Gillan in her different ages (the start of the crack in the wall episodes which are still creeping in even though the Pandorica has been sealed again) is s stroke of genius, and the little girl who plays the younger version has done a good job in that part and even resembles Gillan!

Hot redheads are always a win. Martha Jones though is the one who deserved a lot more seasons. They didn’t do enough with her on Torchwood either.

Dr Who shows that you can make a great Sci Fi series without overdoing the special effects. There is absolutely nothing creepier than the angels and they’re statues.

Well given torchwood was nothing but a gay propoganda piece, as was most of Russel T Davies written episodes, who the hell cares.

Tom Baker is the “Sean Connery” of Doctor Who.

and the little girl who plays the younger version has done a good job in that part and even resembles Gillan!

"Still, they're cousins, Identical cousins and you'll find, They laugh alike, they walk alike, At times they even talk alike -- "

Well except for Karen Gillan being somewhat taller than Caitlin Blackwood.

It seems that just as a companion starts to really settle into the part they are bumped for a new one. Karen is just getting good in the series, yet she is now scheduled for the bump come Christmas 2012? I don't get it, surely she hasn't grown weary of the work!

One last point: Matt Smith is starting to grow on me, like Tom Baker did. Matt is filling out the character in a very constructive and true to the series way.

Actually, that would be William Hartnell.

Okay, I didn't mean by chronology, I meant that Tom Baker was the first actor to fully realize the characters potential.

The first three were okay, but I think Tom Baker's was and is still the best (even with the crummy 70s special effects).
